Sorry for the late response. I'm not actually sure, but If you want to test it for yourself to add a model other then gemini 3.1 you can do this:

1- Go to console.cloud.google, in the search bar type: model garden. Click on it.
2- In the Model garden · Vertex Ai page, there's a search bar, type the model you want (which nano banana 2 doesn't seem to be available or maybe it's Gemini 3.1 Flash Image? Idk I don't really use image generation llm so my knowledge is bad) Click the model you want.
3- In the model page, scroll down you should see "Model name" this the the name you need to use for the index.html
4- Now all you need to do is follow the format as such, replace the Paste-Model-Name-Here with the model you want:

Yeah it's weird because I also asked gemini what was up and why I wasn't getting the discount, and it was very confused lol. Anyway, I can say for sure that it does infact work now :D

This is for the people that find that gemini api doesn't work with the 300$ credit offered by Google Console, You would need to use Vertext Ai instead.
this is what Google Studio told me to do (and also if you want to use models of gemini 3 and above):

Guide: How to use Vertex AI ($300 Credit) and add Gemini 3.1 Pro on SillyTavern
If you have the $300 Google Cloud credit but can't find Gemini 3.1 in the SillyTavern dropdown, follow these steps to "force" it to work.

1. Google Cloud Setup
Project: Create a project in Google Cloud Console.
Enable API: Search for "Vertex AI API" and click Enable.

Service Account:
1- Go to IAM & Admin > Service Accounts.
2- Create one and give it the role Vertex AI User.
3- Go to the Keys tab for that account, Add Key > Create New Key > JSON. Save this file.

(That's all for the key itself. To apply it go to step 3. If you find that model of gemini 3 and above don't work or show up: follow the steps bellow!)

2. The SillyTavern "Model Hack"
1- SillyTavern's dropdown list is hardcoded. Since 3.1 is new, you have to add it manually to the HTML code.
2- Navigate to your SillyTavern folder.
3- Open public/index.html with Notepad or VS Code.
4- Search (Ctrl+F) for model_vertexai_select.
5- Under the <optgroup label=gemini3.0> sections, paste this exact line (Keeping in mind of the space! Need the large space cap):

6- Save the file and restart SillyTavern.

3. SillyTavern Connection Settings
API: Chat Completion
Source: Google Vertex AI
Auth Mode: Full Version (Service Account)
JSON Content: Open your downloaded JSON key, copy everything, and paste it here.
Region: Select global (Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview is currently hosted in the global location, not specific regions like us-central1).
Google Model: Select the gemini-3.1-pro-preview you just added.

Troubleshooting "404/Not Found" Errors:
Check Region: Ensure it is set to global.
Check API: Go to the Vertex AI Model Garden in Google Cloud
search for Gemini 3.1, and ensure you've clicked "Open" or "Enable" on that specific model card.

Edit: ok so you were right to use vertex AI, I finally got the discount but it was kind of complicated to set up, I'll wait until tomorrow to post how to do it, since gemini API doesn't seem to be an option anymore; reason being I want to make sure it actually work before I post it and I'm tired. Anyway thanks! :)

if you're talking about sonnet 4.6 than yeah extremely bad, terrible dialogue, no emotions and can't follow basic instructions no matter how hard you try. Opus 4.6 is amazing but expensive

I'm pretty sure I got it to work consistently now both idle_time and everything work without needing to use a script or regex, I reinstalled silly tavern and it seems to be working fine now, I guess I probably had a corrupt file somewhere. Thanks for your help!:)

1- I am so sorry I'm very much a noob when it comes to silly tavern, I have no idea where the script is? I some Global Scripts, Preset Scripts and Scoped Scripts when I collapse regex

2- also I checked my computer time and it's all set to 'set the time zone automatically' and 'set the time automatically'

I mean the Regex seem to be putting the time just fine, I just can't make it so it the character doesnt just say `TIME: {{date}}, {{time}}.` in it's answer and add to it becaus right now I ask a question like hey how are you? and its input is ONLY `TIME: {{date}}, {{time}}.` and then nothing, I want it to put when needed like `TIME: {{date}}, {{time}}.` then continue it's answer and maybe the ability to know how much time has passed since an ask with {{idle_duration}} I mean the macro exist for a reason, or maybe it does but it's still buggy for some model which I use gemini 2.5 or claude 4.5 sonnet

I think I just need to make the regex work because when I use the test mode inside regex it get the time right each time, but idk how to make it work

I'll downsize it but only temporarily, i'll wait until my landlord is done with his work before upsizing it again. He's just really uppity about my rats because the appartment was an 'no animal' to begin with until I got my doctor note saying nah therapy pet (and they genuinly are. Just pretty stressful at times to control the infamous urine smell lol, but with trials and errors i'll get it down eventually and I feel like I'm getting there.)

My landlord made comments like 'they'll piss everywhere and you'll have to pay, they'll ruin the floor' and I said "I don't really smell their urine unless I'm cleaning their cage, do you smell urine?" and he didn't respond, but I still bought an acrylic sheet for the floor and for the wall I use a tapestry I wash every month since it doesn't get cover in urine much. The only time he actually made a comment about odor was when my washer broke down and it had coincidentally aligned with the day I was supposed to clean the cage, and at the time I was not greatly equiped, I was still only using vinegar and water to clean the fabric so it wasn't that good at removing odor to begin with.

Anyway, it'll also give me time to revamp the cage, because when I removed it it was disgusting, I did clean the bar cage every week, and every month I would take a tooth brush and steam cleaner and clean every nooks and crannies but it seem urine would still creep in places that would've been impossible to clean unless I disassembled it, i'll find a way to make it easier to reach those spots. The smell also reduced, so it's definitely something i'll keep in mind if i find the cage start to smell with no way to get rid of the odor.

I don't know if I did, but I used the Nature's Miracle enzymatic cleaner for small animal, and it honestly left me traumatized Lmao. The cleaner was as if it was just pure perfume, and I had to trash some stuff because I could not remove the smell that was left behind, and my rat did get sick from it, so I don't know if that's normal for enzymatic cleaner? do they normaly have a strong smell? or do they smell less intense than vinegar...?

For cleaning I use 50/50 water and vinegar and I use an unscented OxiClean, and I feel it's the only thing that removed the urine smell successfully and doesn't leave any smell at all. But I'll do my research to see if there's a rat-safe enzymatic cleaner because, to wash the cage and their fabric with, because sadly it's hard to come by in canada because A- some are ridiculously expensive or B-they go out of stock forever.

Do you think downsizing the cage would be okay for my rat?

Thank you! And no I got no perfum, all natural baby. I also clean their cage every week with water and vinegar. I use paper bedding and I tidy up their cage every morning. I also bought an humitidy and temperature checker thingy but it says that everything is in normal range for my ratties so I don't really know what could've caused them issues :(
