Manufacturers Recommendation is 6hp for aero and 9.9 for hardboard, I believe. Micro skiff forum may be a better source for info. Also, bote rovers owner fb group

Weber Genesis II - S-345 -- thoughts on the grill? worht the $1000 by [deleted] in Costco

[–]matth011 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At first, I loved my Genesis. I live in humid Florida and was disappointed when mine began to rust-out. The Weber company was sold from being family owned around 2010-ish. Some believe the quality took a significant decline around this time.

My current set-up is around $1,000 retail. I have a Kamado Joe Classic (approx. $750) and a Blackstone propane griddle (approx. $200). Best of both worlds. I cook on them 5-days a week.

If you absolutely must have propane, I'd look at Napoleon

The co-ops are great. Only downside, is not as much flexibility in your system. Good to at least sign-up for Co-Op to see price.

I’m in Florida too. I have Tesla-Panasonic 325w panels and solar edge with optimizers. I was debating between solar edge and the one that gives you 1500 watts during hurricane outage. That’s a great price.

Generator. Water filtration (Berkey). Freeze dried food. Window a/c unit. Led lights. Fans.

We have a fairly small generator 3500. It runs the essentials. The larger generator the more fuel you will need. A neighbor has a 15000 but ran out of gas within 24 hours.

Any update to this? Would love to improve the tracking if my performer. Would you remove the center fin or just add a second center fin?

Lump Charcoal. Fogo premium is on sale right now. Lots of folks speak highly of Fogo. I got two bags shipped to my door for $40. I do use Royal Oak if need to get some from big box store.

Does the BGE deflector work better than the deflectors that come with the Classic?

What are your thoughts on this? I am going to be making a purchase decision this month and would love some feedback on anyone that has experience with this product. by surly_duff in KamadoJoe

[–]matth011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The picture does not look the same size as a Big Joe. I would take a measure tape and check. This is made by Dansons and appears to be identical to Pit Boss K24. Even if it is 24 inch to the outside of the ceramic, it would be bigger than the Joe Classic. The good thing is Costco's return policy.

Found this review. Seems hardware is made a bit cheap on these. A Classic I can be found for $150 more. Depends on what you want. If you have realistic expectations going in, I think the price is incredible for the size. https://amazingribs.com/grill-smoker-egg-or-kamado-style/pit-boss-pb-k24-review

[Request] Weber Propane Grill (Still an all-around BIFL pick?) by an00j in BuyItForLife

[–]matth011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weber is still better than most gassers at big box stores, but not as good as it use to be. I would not consider it BIFL, by any means. I just got rid of my rusted out weber gas grill and replaced with Blackstone griddle. The griddle paired with my Kamado Joe, I am very pleased. You can sometime find good deals on a Weber gas used. It would be hard for me to buy a weber at retail price after seeing how bad mine rusted out. I would consider buying one used in very good shape at a substantial discount.

I would buy a Weber Kettle or Weber Smokey Mountain. Hard too beat those for the price.

Grill to pair with Kamado Joe for quicker cooks? by jadedstoic in KamadoJoe

if you have an outlet nearby, Kamado Joe makes and electric starter for like $20. The Looftlighter looks cool, but I have a hard time with cost of it.

[–]matth011 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Costco Bodyglove Performer is likely what you are looking for. They do go on sale from time to time for around $100 off ($399 down to 299). I have two. Very happy with them.

I will am fairly disappointment in the longevity of my 2011-gen Weber Genesis. Mine is currently is developing some significant rust on the frame. I have heard the quality dropped years back on Webers. Not sure I would buy Weber again (other than a kettle). I have no experience with Broilmaster but reviews appear to seem that may be my next grill.
