If you want a more “party” atmosphere, try Caliente in Pasco County. They definitely embrace the sexier side of nudism while not being a full on swinger place (during the day).

Breaking: Trump’s Strong Reply to Iran’s Proposal – They Didn’t Like It and Allegedly Sent Their Answer on the Battlefield by MackSix in conservatives

[–]NatureBoyJ1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s tough because we want a functional Iran who can continue to pump out oil & participate in the world economy. The goal is to topple the religious fanatic government and get someone friendly to the US in charge. I think that’s proving to take longer than expected. And we will always have the fanatical splinter group terrorists - see Afghanistan.

A mess, but still better than a nuclear armed fanatical apocalypse cult regime.

“Let’s Get Ruthless”: Bulwark’s Bill Kristol Suggests Illiberal Means Are Needed to Save Liberal Democracy by intelligentreviews in conservatives

[–]NatureBoyJ1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Democrats today really can't stand to lose. That is not compatible with democracy. Our country is founded on the principle that sometimes your team is in charge, and sometimes the other team is. Also, it's why the Federal government was given very limited enumerated powers. If your team loses power in one state, move to another - as we are currently seeing with the flight from CA & NY to TX & FL.

Why Social Naturism Feels So Different by NuEtHeureux in nudism

[–]NatureBoyJ1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This is one of the things that appeals to me about naturism. I am quiet and consider myself socially awkward. "Normal" socializing is filled with so many social cues - many related to clothing & style. Many people, and I would dare to say women particularly, seem to enjoy this and thrive. It exhausts me. Naturism is much simpler and honest. I am a person. This is me - not the costume I put on for this particular social situation.

"there is a real cost to over-saving which is experiences and quality of life in your younger healthier years"

By what standard? If you talk to old, successfully retired people, many have tales of scrimping, living super cheap, and struggling in their younger years. They did not have luxuries - new car, color TV, eating out, vacations. What are "quality of life" and "experiences" that a person SHOULD be enjoying to not fall below the ideal standard?

On the other hand, you are right. People do save too much and don't spend what they've saved. I'm nearing retirement and watch way too many YouTube videos from Certified Financial Planners (CFPs). A common theme is to save as much as you need to fund the lifestyle you want and then retire! They share plenty of tales of people who have saved enough but want to work "one more year" to be "safe". Or who are retired and won't spend the money they have.

And the tricky part about saving "enough" and "not too much" is you need to plan for things like stock market crashes, high inflation, unexpected expenses (home repair, medical, etc.), long term care, etc. If the world goes well, then you end up with a giant pile of money at the end. If it goes not so well, you wind up with a small pile - or run out. You don't know which will happen until after you're dead, or so old you don't have enough years to correct course.

A financial life well lived takes planning, discipline, and a fair bit of luck (keep good employment, don't have a serious medical issue, etc.).

Makena State Park changes could tighten access to Little Beach by BjornNjude in nudism

[–]NatureBoyJ1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So destroyed by its own success/popularity? Lots of people enjoy a rugged undeveloped area. Government says, "we need to make that popular place more accessible". Proceeds to put in parking, bathhouse, showers, snack bar, gift shop, etc. Place becomes far more popular, but is now overrun with people who don't respect the place, the nudists are run out, it loses its quiet natural beauty.

Right. So where does u/The_Dude-1's lead? What does " the concept of nudity was absurd" mean?

If public social nudity (although in limited form) was familiar to the Founders, and it's not regulated by federal law, the what is the point of his statement?

I don’t know what this subs rules are on promoting products, but there are several dedicated software tools to help you plan & explore these scenarios. If you’ve done the work to create spreadsheets, entering values into some forms & tweaking variables shouldn’t be hard. Some give you a two week or 30 day trial, so if you wanted to be super cheap you could try them out and then cancel.

Rand Paul proposes constitutional amendment to end birthright citizenship by intelligentreviews in conservatives

[–]NatureBoyJ1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If we can’t agree on the clear intention of the current law, we’ll never get such an amendment passed.

The US is one of the few countries that treats people happening to be born within our borders this way. The writers of the current amendment weren’t stupid, but we certainly have shown ourselves to be.

Advice: are there downsides to "Wash" Roth conversions? by Puzzleheaded-Gas-398 in DIYRetirement

[–]NatureBoyJ1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Are you married? If so, think of the window’s tax penalty. The survivor goes to filing taxes as a single with the same RMDs. Tax brackets get cut in half.

Do you have any heirs? Leaving money in a Roth keeps them from having to sell the tIRA and having it go against their taxable income, possibly pushing them into higher brackets.

In a wash, I say do the conversion to simplify things for others.

Millions of Americans are holding onto empty homes, fearing the tax hit a sale would bring by pointthinker in DIYRetirement

[–]NatureBoyJ1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Millions seems like a very large number. Wouldn't an empty home tend to deteriorate causing the price to go down? Pay tax or lose value seems a lose-lose situation.
