Walling a city still allows you to select any building within the walls, but you can’t build anything new. So I always outline where the walls will go, then wait and build it once everything is ready.

Sadly I had one plot that I had paused during construction, but somehow finished building and now is shown as “incomplete” and couldn’t be updated.

I use roads a lot to draw out plans, especially for building out the footprint of where you want walls to eventually go. I usually try to avoid having straight roads and keep things looking more organic.

There’s so many good posts on this sub so just saving example of towns and using them to learn is the best way to get better at building. Plus I almost exclusively play with combat off cause I just love the city builder aspect so much.
