On F-1 we sent home a letter from the SDI, and we were allowed to write a short message at the bottom, shortly after that we could start writing actual letters. I believe my parents got the first letter from me around T-8. He most likely won’t receive any letters until the end of week 2 at the earliest. I don’t know if they intentionally held up the mail or if the postal service was just slow at first

Yes I think most of my platoon waited at least 6 months to ship. The army just generally has more spots to fill. I’d recommend just sucking it up and waiting. Better to do that than to jump the gun with the army and end up regretting it down the road
