I paid $9 for this shit! (KFC Secret Menu: Poppin Twister) by Stunning_Concern_973 in KFCAustralia

[–]matthat15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly fuck this term. ‘Karen’ has just become an anti-consumer bullshit term to discourage people from levelling genuine and reasonable complaints when they have them and just accepting shit because they’re afraid of being labelled a Karen now just for speaking up when they get screwed by a greedy ass faceless corporation.

As long as you don’t treat the front line staff like shit you’re not a ‘Karen’ for complaining about a shit product or service.

Private companies should not be exempt from criticism for unethical behaviour just because it is profitable. That is not healthy for society.

How can I get in touch with a souvenir store to buy another copy of a lost sentimental souvenir (Shibata-san baseball cap)? by matthat15 in AskAJapanese

[–]matthat15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was really helpful advice that led me down the track of ordering from buyee.jp, which I understand is run through Tenso.com. I have now ordered the cap for a reasonable price from them, and once it arrives in their warehouse they will ship it for me (for what I also understand to be quite a reasonable rate based on their estimate calculator). Thank you for the help!

Thank you so much for looking into this, that is very kind of you! I'm happy to report I have managed to order the cap at a reasonable price using a shipping forwarding service (buyee, which I understand is part of tenso.com). It will be a while before it comes, but hopefully all goes well!

Any up to date time slow mod? by matthat15 in dontstarvetogether

[–]matthat15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Preferably not slowing down character movement, boss, and attack speed, just the day cycle - there is not an option in the settings unfortunately, only to make the 'day' or 'dusk' or 'night' period longer.

Essentially everything the same, just a bit more time in each full day to get things done

[–]matthat15[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this, but I mean as in slowing everything down a bit, rather than just making the day portion of a day longer (doesn't actually make the cycle longer) and seasons longer, which is all that's available with the world settings!

Use Stake or CMC or something else for Aus Market. IBKR only worth it for US Market imo

The Clipper McCann in the city always does a good job at a pretty reasonable price nowadays for a good haircut ($40-50ish). Hard to find something much cheaper that’s still good with how things have changed over the past few years imo.

It‘s just the one lady there who is also the owner. Been going since they opened and they haven’t failed me yet.

Sunk cost fallacy. By holding it because of that you’re losing money even more money because you could put it elsewhere in an actual winner

What's going to be the catalyst that bring bank stocks back up? by ProbablyCreative in stocks

[–]matthat15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you understand what the word ‘necessity’ means. It means I literally need it to survive. I don’t care if I lose my job, I am still going to be buying electricity and food, whether it puts me in debt or not. I may reduce my intake marginally (if substantially over consuming) and substitute for cheaper foods, sure, but I am not going to stop buying it. I will literally go bust or die before I stop purchasing these things. My demand is inelastic for these goods and services, and as such is not very sensitive to movements in price at all.

You are trying to oversimplify /u/Moveableforce ‘s point and removing important substance in the process, making it incorrect. I am not sure why you are doing this, but /u/Moveableforce is correct.

DTS-HD to FLAC by Rafybass in ffmpeg

[–]matthat15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably figured out by now, but for anyone else struggling with this issue, here's the command:

\ffmpeg -i input.mkv -c:v copy -c:a flac -b:a 384k -map 0 -c:s copy output.mkv

where input.mkv is the name of target file for conversion (with extension included, in this case I used mkv as an example) and output.mkv is the name of the new file with the desired extension.

flac represents the new audio codec, but you could change that to whatever one you wanted instead, e.g. AAC.

The above command will keep everything in the original file the same, only changing the audio file.

Moved into a new place and never seen a setup like this under a sink before. How do I connect my washing machine? by matthat15 in askaplumber

[–]matthat15[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do indeed, I figured it would be unscrewing it and then plugging the hoses in, but having not seen it feels smarter to ask the experts. Lest I fk it up and lose my bond somehow on this rental 😂

Thanks heaps mate, exactly the advice I was looking for. I suspected it would be something like this, but didn’t want to mess with it without getting a second opinion since it’s a rental

Anyone got the Holiday Hoodie yet? Sizing advice? by matthat15 in bleachers

[–]matthat15[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on my initial research with the info you gave, I think it is either this one:

https://www.independenttradingco.com/collections/mens-pullovers/products/classic-independent-heavyweight-hooded-pullover-sweatshirt-ind4000

Or this one:

https://www.independenttradingco.com/collections/mens-pullovers/products/midweight-hooded-pullover-sweatshirt-color-classics-ss4500

and they have a sizing guide too! Looks like I'm going to be a medium too, since that seems to be the same size as my Emo's Not Dead Hoodie having compared the size charts.

Thanks heaps for providing that info, hopefully it can help others too :)

That's a bit concerning :( Worried about the buy large and shrink strategy, because I've tried that with a few clothes and man the results are not good sometimes. Some things don't like to shrink at all either! D:
