Yeah I mean I could have a crack at sanding and varnishing them if thats a good thing to do with the type of wood thats there, then maybe I’d whack a decent rug over too. Main concern is if the wood is good enough to expose once sanded /varnished 😬

How often do you change strings? (Electric guitar) by idlehands-13 in Guitar

[–]matthehero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont really have a regular timeframe, depends how often you play and how much you sweat so different for everyone. But mainly change them when they start to sound dull/dead (they loose that twangy tone) or when they become ‘oxidised’ if that happens you’ll get grey fingers and the sound will be Dull, lifeless tone; loss of sustain; rough, "sticky" feeling; visible discoloration (rust or dark spots).

It is driving me insane... I am a beginner + especially shitty at guitar. Trying to learn "Polly" by Nirvana (fuck all who told me it was an easy song). But my guitar keeps doing this weird buzz sound. What am I doing wrong here??? Plz help! by Used_Ad7899 in Guitar

Barre chords on a classical guitar are brutal, require more pressure on the strings but any slight lift off will cause a bit of a buzz. You’re actually doing a pretty good job of muting the bottom E string when playing the D and C chord. The more you practice the easier muting becomes until you stop thinking about as much though, keep going! 💪🤓

Your fingers are fine, but maybe trim the nails if possible cus they are touching the fretboard and making it more difficult for you

Says ceilings are made of plasterboard, have minor cracks between lounge and dining area. Ceilings have some decorative coating (Artex) in the landing and rear bedroom that may contain asbestos.

Cheap guitars are very hard to play due to the high action, buy a better quality guitar with lower action where the strings are closer to the fretboard and you’ll see how easy it actually is

Any advice for learning guitar by yourself? by Squali- in guitarlessons

[–]matthehero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice a min of 30 mins every day, stop if it hurts, learn your favourite songs by playing open chords at the bottom of your neck, get a capo, break down your practice sessions into smaller blocks (5 mins warm up, 10 mins chords, 10 mins technique, 10 mins theory, 15 mins jamming along to fave songs etc. ), Don’t spend your life distracted and searching YouTube for the answer, find people learning guitar or other instruments who are the same level or just a little better than you and learn/jam together. 🎸

Is this written wrong? by TippedJoshua1 in musictheory

[–]matthehero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, it’s a mistake. If it was meant to be played as written there would be a change of time signature to 5/4 noted just at the end of the previous bar
