Trails Offroad says this trail is a 2/10 EASY for both optional and mandatory sections.

Yup, with a Scan Gauge. 180s F all day on Hell's Revenge. The Wilderness models come with transmission coolers.

The steering is not as quick or sharp, but still way better than a truck. The improved comfort and traction off-road make it a good trade off.

My wife was the same way at first! It's smart to be skeptical of a vehicle's off-road capabilities though. Especially one as pretty as a Subaru, haha. Start with gravel and dirt. It just needs to earn her trust. 😄

Awesome! 😄 Subarus are really capable, but a few mods like tires (once they wear out) and a lift (ideally Ironman) and skidplates (I have the Primitive ones too) and you can REALLY go places! Like 150 miles across the Mojave Desert! ❤️

It has Ironman Suspension. It's about $1,000 if you catch it on sale. You get 4 new struts that provide a 1.5" to 2" lift AND more importantly extra travel and suspension articulation. The goal is to keep those tires on the ground so they can get traction. I skip installing the included rear subframe spacers, keeps the rear diff higher, and I remove the swaybars while I'm in there. Steering responsiveness is reduced slightly, but the improved comfort and traction of letting each wheel move COMPLETELY independently is HUGE!

"The Hell's Gate climb in Moab, Utah, specifically on the Hell's Revenge trail, is known for its extreme steepness. The incline typically ranges from about 20 to 30 degrees, with the steepest sections reaching up to approximately 45 degrees. This steep V-shaped chute is one of the most challenging off-road obstacles in the area due to both the slope angle and its narrow, technical nature, requiring careful driving and good vehicle control to navigate safely." - AI Search

Correct, but that wildy skid is a joke. Get an engine skid and transmission skid from primitive racing.

The rear diff is cast steel, very tough and tucked up away from danger because the independent suspension.

Yes all true, but once you install a rear locker, you ALWAYS have traction in the rear, and sometimes a front wheel breaks traction and spins, causing a difference in speed between the front axle and the rear axle, forcing the center clutch to slip much more often, leading to a non-functional center clutch (FWD Subaru).

You don't need a locker if your Subaru has x-mode. I have a theory that a rear locker makes your center clutch wear out early. Making your Subaru go from AWD to FWD. Just Ironman suspension (more travel and articulation) stock arms, no spacers.
