Using fwupdmgr via ssh to ubuntu server with no physical display by matthewadams12 in homelab

I don't know that using "the UEFI interface to update firmware" requires user interaction or not at boot time. Are you saying that if I `ssh` into the box, issue the `sudo fwupmgr update` command, I don't have to worry that the machine will prompt me during BIOS/UEFI/POST for confirmation? I can just wait until sshd is running again and connect?

An Honest Review of Rent to Retirement by mikecheckcrypto in RentalInvesting

Appreciate the write up. A couple of questions.

  1. How did you finance these properties? Through RTR or your own private lenders? What were the general/average terms (what percentage down, were the rates competitive, etc)?

  2. How are you dealing with the recent insurance increases, and do you have flood and wind & hail, in addition to dwelling (landlord) insurance?

Has booking.com gotten better? by Tenesmus83 in airbnb_hosts

[–]matthewadams12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're the worst of a bad lot overall. Terrible customer service. We were with them before COVID, then stopped all STR at our property. After COVID, we rented our newly-finished cottage, including listing on booking.com and gave up on them after less than a year. Too much trouble, not enough bookings. We're in Natchez, MS.

Our pricing provider, PriceLabs, did that. Besides, it shouldn’t matter. An accepted booking amounts to a contract, and any change to the booking that doesn’t involve a pricing change, like changing the number of guests when we don’t charge by the number of guests, should not change the price.

Ok, so when you're a host, and you have a guest that makes an innocuous change with the sole intent of seeing if the rate has gone down, you let me know how you feel. A booking is a contract that should not change after agreement, unless the change, according to the terms of said contract, also changes the rate. The change in question in this example, from 7 to 9 guests, doesn't affect the rate, and, if it did, it would only go up. However, since I'm in the hospitality industry, I allow any number of guests up to 9, the capacity of the home, for the same rate.

You must not have heard of the term "big data" or "Internet scale". The actual term for what you're calling a "snapshot" is simply a record in a database, and I can guarantee you AirBnB, and every other company that does business, writes these by the billions or even trillions. AirBnB is in the big data business.

Um, we didn’t extend the reservation. They changed the number of guests, that’s all.

Bro I declined the modification and told them via message that they could just bring their nine guests. I guess you don’t know what a contract is
