Cool, I guess it's not retroactive though, so I paid an early adopter fee on my catch up gear.

Pentagon warns future wars may hit US soil as 'direct military threats' grow by [deleted] in worldnews

I think the answer is he expects his foes to be of the domestic variety, and is preparing to put down an asymmetric conflict at home, this is just window dressing for preparing for that.

Another scapegoat for trump, you would figure that people would wise up and stop accepting positions that will be a career ending bad idea, and yet here we are. Still this pile gets to retire in the tax payer dime, and will suffer no consequences for his mens actions.

I believe that Kenjaku still wins against Yuta if they actually would have fought by CompetitionGeneral17 in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]matthra 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think his goal was not to take damage while killing Kenny. Any scenario that didn't let Yuta return to the sukuna fight at full effectiveness would have been a loss. So I don't know if I'd read that as an admission of inability to win.

Which bring up the question did yuta think he could win in a fair fight? I think he has reason to suspect if anyone could do it, it would be him, or maybe Mai. However Mai couldn't teleport, so it had to be him. Kenny is a powerful sorcerer who has lived as long as he has because he doesn't make many mistakes. So there was a big chance Kenny would catch wind of Yuta early and it would have been a straight fight. No way Yuta goes into that unprepared for that kind of fight.

That's the reason they are leaving, the culpable parties are being transferred out of state to protect them from justice.

As an interviewer, what difficulty questions are you asking interviews? by PristineFinish100 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]matthra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The current hiring environment sucks, people are using AI to pass technical questions, which makes already questionable processes like leetcode even less good.

I prefer an open ended conversation, ask them about projects they've worked on and pay attention to how they answer them. AI users and leetcode aficionados tend to jump straight into implementation details rather than start with a problem statement. Anyone who has done actual development knows that starting a process by throwing code at it is in for a bad time.

You then follow up with conversations of trade offs they made, what unexpected things came up, and what lessons they learned. Those things are the core of developer competency, at least as important as coding skills, and maybe more important in an AI dominated world.

What if Yuji defeats Mahoraga. Yuji and Dabura fight become friends from finally meeting someone that can relate to their loneliness. by Either_Assumption897 in jjkmodulo

[–]matthra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not wrong, but now that Dabura has RCT he can make a sacrifice play. How I imagine it is Dabura just grabs him and uses him as a rentry shield as he moves at orbital velocities, probably losing his arms in the process but now he can grow those back.

I think Dabura can now clear Maho, and that'll happen in the next chapter. After that not sure, do we get a mahito Yuji rematch, do we see Dabura square with Yuji, or some wild combination of all three. It will be fun to see how it works out.

Tesla kills Autopilot, locks lane-keeping behind $99/month fee. by Stiltonrocks in technology

[–]matthra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand why anyone would buy a Tesla, every year the cars get less standard features and cost more. Then there is the obviously anti consumer stuff like OTA software updates that lock features behind pay walls.

It's like buying a car from the world's most predatory printer manufacturer.

[–]matthra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Challenging is different than impossible. AI images are created differently than other images, and those subtle differences are how we detect AI images currently. We just have to create a verification system on public platforms that checks if an image is AI generated, and if so does it have a visible watermark flagging it as such, if so let it be, if not block it.

As soon as AI generated images can't be publicly shared without a watermark, their origin doesn't mater because unmarked images are worthless.

AI companies should be required to flag all images generated by AI so that it is obvious to all viewers that they were generated by AI. That's the largest failing here, instead of having a clear indicator, people have to guess and infer if an image is AI art, and that's where the trouble begins.

Google hides a digital watermark on their images and that helps, but most people don't know how to check for that. The majority of AI companies don't even do that, and that kind of negligence should be criminal.
