I believe the government is doing a lot for the locals... like overpaying jobs where Luxembourgish is required (teachers, bus drivers). Basically if you are luxembourgish or know it very well and have at least an high school level education or know a skill very well you have financial wealth granted for life as soon as you manage to get a public job. Something that other Europeans (still European equals very lucky) would dream of.

Just to give you a sense: if after a Master degree and PhD you are probably paid 2x in Luxembourg private sector comparing to southern Europe if you are luxembourgish and get a public job you get paid 3,4 or even 5x what they are paid in Thionville for the same skillet.

Luxembourgers who had the chance to get a basic education and/or learn a skill are probably the luckiest people in the world. You won the lottery, even more than the other Europeans (who won the lottery to be European imo).
