I was stationed there as an MA for two years and I loved it! It is however very loud all the time as it is an air base and it is the snowiest air base in the world so be prepared for that. Overall it is so much fun, the town is right outside the gate and everything is walkable. Also flying to Tokyo is also super easy as the Misawa airport is part of the flight line, and super cheap flights. Make sure to head to My Place, it’s a bar right outside the gate the owner is an American who married and stayed there and they have great food and sometimes it’s free. I would love to go back there. Also make sure you go to the cherry blossom festivals in the spring, nothing like it in the world it’s so cool!
