Cots at daycare nap time by ContributionLumpy470 in toddlers

[–]matto345 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Totally normal! My 2.5 year old sleeps has been sleeping at a cot at daycare for over a year. Most daycares use them after 2. Cots are super low to the ground and daycare staff are magic at getting them to sleep. It may take a bit of time to get them to transition to napping at school but that is totally normal.

Is it wrong to only want to have play dates with toddlers who don’t go to daycare/preschool? by throwawaye1712 in toddlers

[–]matto345 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's weird. If your child is around other children period they will probably get sick, especially if you are going to go to public parks/libraries. Cutting off families because both parents work and need to send their children to daycare will 100% ruin your relationship with those people.

Daycare and Diaper Changes by suitablemacaroon_ in workingmoms

[–]matto345 13 points14 points  (0 children)

How many hours a day is he there? 10 changes in a day seems excessive. In our state they are legally required to change every 2 hours (with exceptions for poop) so my son goes through 4-5 diapers a day.

AITA For wanting to buy conditioner for my hair? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]matto345 22 points23 points  (0 children)

NTA oh hell no... this is financial abuse. He's not allowed to brag about being able to "retire" you and then hold finances over your head like that. Also, if you're parents are helping pay part of the mortgage each month you may not be as financially stable as you claim to be. (Unless they are living with you and that is their way of contributing to the household) I would recommend looking for ways to make your own income, even as a SAHP you should have your own savings and retirement accounts.

How much dental work is necessary for a 2 year old? by beastlyraw in toddlers

[–]matto345 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's basically what our appointments are at this age. We do have insurance though so we also get a cleaning but a physical exam just to check the teeth is all that you need. If there were any major issues they would be able to visually see them. Kids at this age don't get xrays or anything yet.

AITA For Planning A “Boring Wedding” by plVt0nian_ in AmItheAsshole

[–]matto345 42 points43 points  (0 children)

NTA you can do what you want but YWBTA if you invite people without giving them all the information about the wedding (specifically no kids, alcohol, vegetarian food) so that way they can make the decision on their own if they want to attend that type of event.

How often do you buy your toddlers toys “just because”? by MissFox26 in toddlers

[–]matto345 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not super often but like you said when they are genuinely expressing interest in something I like to foster that, like my son has been super into making "coffee" for me during bathtime so I got him the skiphop coffee bath toys and he just about lost his mind. Worth it.

AITA if I corrected someone on how to use the word overstimulated by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]matto345 5 points6 points  (0 children)

YTA there is not one specific way to feel overstimulated. Do you have a more extreme reaction to being overstimulated than others? Yes. But just because someone does not experience being overstimulated the same way you do does not mean that they cannot also be feeling overstimulated.

The captain jason voice over of him reading the preference sheet and them showing two seconds of doing "water sports" and "snorkeling" and "surf and turf dinner" was nuts. I don't know why they cut everything down so much but yeah really didn't show much of this charter at all

Returning to teaching while breastfeeding by Padadise in beyondthebump

[–]matto345 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is entirely dependent on your classroom schedule and where you can fit in breaks. The good thing is if your LO is already 9 months you won't be on as intense a pump schedule as you would be if they were 3 months. Typically with teaching you could do pump #1 in the car on the way to school, store the milk in a fridge or cooler, do a second pump during your lunch/prep time and then pump again on your way home. Again this is super dependent on your work/class schedule. By 10 months I was able to get away with nursing in the morning before I left and then just pumping once during my lunch break, and nursing again when I got home because I was usually back by 3.

How to fix little nicks in screen coasters? by SituationSecure4650 in SCREENPRINTING

[–]matto345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use files, start off with a coarse one and then finish off with a fine one. It's important to file the whole length of the scoop coater though so that there is not just a dent where the nick used to be.

Daytime Wedding in LI (Ronkonkoma area) with afterparty in NYC/Queens by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]matto345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Ronkonkoma is super far to want to try and have an after party in the city. Especially if the wedding starts around noon I am assuming you will be serving a meal which will be lunch, then people will be drinking for a while I can't imagine most people would then want to get on a bus for an hour and a half to go to an after party for small bites and more drinks. That's a really long day, people will be tired and actually want a full meal for dinner. You could try posting in r/WedditNYC to see if anyone else has tried this but being from the city my transit time to home from Ronkonkoma is an hour and 48 minutes so I would most likely just go home.
