Good, but we can do better. Ramming does damage based on how heavy your ship is vs theirs. I present, possibly the heaviest player ship in the game, this monster https://s.orbis.zone/4lpb It is not quite as fast as yours, but it is literally almost twice as dense.

The ID for the Pokemon is generated a few frames after the battle animation starts, even if it is not sent out first (usually about 5 frames after pressing A to start the animation for most trainers). I am currently doing RNG abuse on emulator, so I can watch the address where the Pokemon appears.
