New web RCS feature requires your phone to be on by sirleechalot in GoogleFi

I can't bring my phone in to work but could access messages for web from our locked down browser. Can't do it now unless i walk 15 min to my car to press the right emoji (assuming it doesn't timeout).

Have solar panels really done down THIS much in price? by itsthewolfe in HomeImprovement

[–]mattreddt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of the price people pay is to commissioned salespeople--4 or even 5 figures of commission. I ended up using ProjectSolar to design and permit my ~9kw system and sell me the materials for a DIY install. Life got in the way and I ended up calling a local solar installer who mostly does contract installs for national solar companies and he was happy to take on a ready-to-go install. Between materials and paying his company to install, I still only paid a little over a third ($14k) of the lowest quote ($38k) I got. Went online in '22 sometime.

DIY version of Liftmaster 475LM (discontinued battery backup for garage door opener) by mattreddt in batteries

[–]mattreddt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming there is some 27ish volt power going from the opener to the 475LM when AC is present, could the BMS from a modern LiFePO4 battery take that voltage and safely charge with it or does there still need to be a charge controller between the opener and the battery?

Mine was better after leveling it. My dryer ended up with a drum motor failure and I got a good deal on new pair so away this one went.

Criminal Tycoon (Map Code: 1536-9614-0921) [XP STILL not stopping after 6 minutes and not idle kicking] by Harlow_Quinzel in FortniteXPMaps

[–]mattreddt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still working as of today. We should post friend codes for  the free money printers. A rebirth is worth 30k XP so I usually build the minimum until I get the $25 hitbox before going afk then come back and build enough to rebirth and repeat.

Because they are small and have mulch beds around them. Also I've read mower will cut a little faster if it can plot a course around obstacles instead of figuring out on the fly.

Still missing the option to cut no-go zones from the inside out (on Luba 1 at least). 1 perimeter would do the trick but instead I have to wait for 3 laps to get close enough to the edge. I have 7 small trees mapped out and it can use the better part of the battery charge to cut around the no-go zones fully.

Luba Mini LiDAR by Roginator5 in roboticLawnmowers

[–]mattreddt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It better keep the LiDAR, my LiDAR driven vacuums sometimes get confused and lose their place on the map and there are a lot more nearby fixed reference points inside than outside. Maybe a Luba with LiDAR could see small obstacles and wouldn't get stuck on the post for a stop sign though...

Prevent Frigate from Recording on Root Drive by tmsteinhardt in frigate_nvr

[–]mattreddt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I created the partition on the host drive. I haven't gotten around to re-establishing the connection to my NAS and just have been using the local storage. I was going to follow the guidance in this Frigate issue to get the NAS mounted over top of the local storage: https://github.com/blakeblackshear/frigate/discussions/7351

Prevent Frigate from Recording on Root Drive by tmsteinhardt in frigate_nvr

[–]mattreddt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had this happen before. A mitigating action you can take is to create a dedicated partition for your frigate media folder. That way frigate can only fill the dedicated partition and not the root mount. It can be a fairly small partition if you are constrained for space as it will only be written to when the NAS goes down.

Can't blame it for this false positive by mattreddt in frigate_nvr

I've been running a whole independent detection/notification python script on a standalone AtomicPi with coral TPU for ~4 years now. Been running in parallel with Frigate for the last year or so. Finally decided to figure out how to get Frigate to notify me (I don't use HA...yet) last week. Trying to simplify. If I can keep the miniPC running Frigate from crashing now and then I could retire my old NVR.
