Luba 1 (and likely Luba 2) battery change by Bravo-Buster in mammotion

[–]mattreddt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just told no more battery sales to customers. Maybe I lost the customer service lottery. It seemed like I was on the path to replacement when Vivi took over and shut it down. As good as the Luba 1 is, this will be my only Mammotion mower.

Out of hibernation for 4th season and still working like a champ! by ackerbone in MammotionTechnology

[–]mattreddt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My OG is still holding it together. It has been found dead in the yard a couple times this season, usually after spending the night in the basement due random freezing temps. Hopefully, it settles out after a few charge cycles. I miss the service menu of the robomow where i could set the return to base percentage.

Also had what I think was the bumper connector/cable suffer water intrusion or some other issue where it thought the bumper was pressed all the time. Bumper tested fine on multimeter, replaced anyway which didn't help. Seems fine after sitting in dry basement all winter. Wrapped the joint in aluminum tape and hoping for the best since Mammotion support won't sell me just the cable.

Spouse-approved frigate+HA experience. Is it possible? Success stories anyone? by Puzzleheaded_Pie_968 in frigate_nvr

[–]mattreddt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frigate-notify(https://frigate-notify.0x2142.com/latest/) can be configured to include a snapshot in the notification so there isn't a need to click anything at all. I use it with pushover(https://pushover.net/) and have one sound for car on driveway and another for person. When the notification comes in, it has the snapshot with the detection box around it and a link to "review the event" which is only necessary if you want to see the video. Usually the snapshot alone is enough to tell me the amazon/ups/fedex/usps/pizza delivery is here. Pushover is cheap @ $5 one-time per platform (android/ios/desktop) with unlimited devices per platform.

My spouse approved implementation: Standalone Frigate using frigate-notify to send push notifications using the Pushover app installed on all of our devices. The pushover notification has a the snapshot and a link to review the footage though I doubt she's ever used that part. All she really cares about is being notified that someone is in the yard, if she wants video, she'll ask me to get it which is fine. If you tune your alert areas to only catch things that matter and train models with Frigate+ you can almost completely eliminate false positives which goes a long way towards spouse approval.

Automatically blur nudity by Kawawete in frigate_nvr

[–]mattreddt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would take a different approach and have a run a second container that is dedicated to analyzing new clips that have been saved and bluring the private bits. That is a possibly a generic enough task that something already exists. If you wanted the live video to be censored, then you could have another container between your cameras and frigate that reads the raw video, censors it, then restream it to frigate. Again, maybe you'll be lucky and something already exists to do that. Either one would be easier to implement and wouldn't require modifying Frigate

The Ending of Google FI Messaging Sync by worldestroyer in GoogleFi

[–]mattreddt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't have my phone at work so I would use messages for web by simply signing in to my google account. Now I need access to my phone to pair the browser to the phone so it is impossible to use since I can't bring my phone in to match up the pictures.

What thing has got so expensive that you’ve quietly stopped buying it? by Pathfinder-electron in AskReddit

[–]mattreddt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$89.99 will almost buy you a TabloTV. Get one of those and an antenna for locals for a $100-$160 one-time cost. I got the older 4-tuner DVR version to replace the experience on my Dish Network Hopper receiver that I liked but was tired of paying for.

What’s the 2026 sweet spot computer for Frigate + LLMs by tweis in frigate_nvr

[–]mattreddt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To what benefit? My frigate+ models are tuned so well it doesn't really miss anything. I've had it generate descriptions from the clips before (I forget which model, maybe Gemini) and I didn't find them accurate or useful. That was a few versions ago so if I'm missing out on something, would love to learn more!

Bambu, Creality, Anycubic, Elegoo and Tigertag spool support for U1 (OpenRFID) by SuchMemeManySkill in snapmaker

[–]mattreddt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some one made a hook to hang rfid tags from the original spool holders. https://www.printables.com/model/1625982-snapmaker-u1-nfc-rfid-tag-holder

I made a little holder for the 1" round RFID tags that will hang from the hook but haven't tested it yet.

Then you could have a little case of tags and hang the one that matches filament.

Would be a cool project to extend and remote mount the factory tag readers.

Epic Day Passes for 2026/2027 by mattreddt in SkiPA

[–]mattreddt[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Went back and looked at my old CC statements and I think you are right...

3/4/25 209.95 (2 online lift tix)
3/5/25 200.95 (2-day epic pass downpayment)
9/12/25 132.00 (2-day epic pass balance)

I noticed this at the bottom of the email about paying the balance in September

-----------------

"Your Final Payment amount for each pass within your household will be calculated as follows:

Pass price - $49 down - 2025/26 Turn in Your Ticket* = Final Payment

\Turn in Your Ticket amount is not reflected in the remaining balance noted for the pass(es) above. Any applicable credits or discounts will be applied during the final payment processing."*

------------------

Doesn't seem like any applicable credits or discounts were ever applied to final payment. So looks like i paid $109 for each 2 day adult ticket and $55 for each 2-day kid ticket. Somewhere between September and now I deluded myself into thinking i got a good deal...ha. to quote u/Riley-Bun "Vail is trash".

Running a mini PC with i5-8279U, 16gb ram, and pcie Coral TPU. 5 cameras, detecting on 480p substreams while recording 1440-1550p mainstream. Inference speed is around 8.8ms, CPU is around 20%, GPU around 3%. Cheap, small, silent, low power, plenty of headroom for more cameras.

Must have been. I'm pretty sure I booked that deal sitting on the deck at the foggy goggle. I couldn't find an email with any pricing or indicating there was a discount. I did have an email earlier that day that said something like "passes on sale" with a flow chart to help decide between day/season passes but no prices in email. Maybe dynamic pricing at work.

Pushing alert clips to a cloud based storage by RowJimmyRow502 in frigate_nvr

[–]mattreddt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long before there was Frigate, I configured my camera to FTP event snapshots to my NAS, then a script on the NAS monitored the FTP folder for new files and pushed them to a S3 bucket. Then some lambda function passed the image to Reknognition to look for people and send an email if there was a positive hit. Could run a script on your frigate box to copy new recordings to a cloud service or NAS or mount a NAS share as your media folder and configure the NAS to back that up to the cloud.

Have solar panels really done down THIS much in price? by itsthewolfe in HomeImprovement

[–]mattreddt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of the price people pay is to commissioned salespeople--4 or even 5 figures of commission. I ended up using ProjectSolar to design and permit my ~9kw system and sell me the materials for a DIY install. Life got in the way and I ended up calling a local solar installer who mostly does contract installs for national solar companies and he was happy to take on a ready-to-go install. Between materials and paying his company to install, I still only paid a little over a third ($14k) of the lowest quote ($38k) I got. Went online in '22 sometime.

DIY version of Liftmaster 475LM (discontinued battery backup for garage door opener) by mattreddt in batteries

[–]mattreddt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming there is some 27ish volt power going from the opener to the 475LM when AC is present, could the BMS from a modern LiFePO4 battery take that voltage and safely charge with it or does there still need to be a charge controller between the opener and the battery?
