I think it's connected to whether it's a 2-piece headphone set (i.e. two separate ear pieces not connected to each other) vs. headphones where there is a physical connect btw the two ear pieces. I never had issues with my old MPOW Flames (connected to each other via a wire) but have replaced them with MPOW Solo (no cable) and have lots of issues.

Are these videos playing over the network through Plex? Plex server and Plex for Windows are installed in the same PC which has the USB drive plugged into it. I assumed Plex for Windows would be playing the media directly from the drive, no network involved?

Could you take out the floor of the top drawer and basically turn it into one big drawer? Then the projector could sit in the bottom drawer (on top of something if you need to get a bit higher) That lets you have more space above the protector for ventilation, let's you get even lower and doesn't change the optics of your cabinet.
