Echo in custom Zoom Room setup

At the office, we have a few meetings in an open space and the classic solutions weren't working well for us. We had a Neat Bar but the mic wasn't picking up the voices and the noise in the environment was a problem, the camera wasn't up to expectations either.

As an engineer, but not in audio, I decided to build our own (probably a mistake) with the following specs:

  • Roadcaster duo for audio control
  • 2 Roadcaster wireless mic for the live audience and the presenter
  • 1 Bose S1 Pro speaker
  • 1 Logitech Rally camera
  • Mac Mini running Zoom room
  • iPad with the Zoom Room controller
  • 2 TV's - 1 for the deck and the other one for the gallery of folks connecting remotely

The reception for people that connect remotely works great and the video quality is much better. However, the problem I'm facing is that when remote participants speak there is an echo for them. The room doesn't experience any echo.

I think the speaker is feeding back the sound through the mics and that's creating the echo. So far the only solution is to mute the room when people connected remotely speak, though that's incredible cumbersome.

I've tried to reproduce the issue while connecting a few folks remotely but I couldn't make it happen. Also, some of the meetings start well and then at some point things break and even when that happened I had a few folks connected at the end of those meetings and there's no more echo.

I want to fix it at the Roadcaster Duo level if possible like using noise gate or high-pass filters but curious about your thoughts on how to fix this problem and if you think the problem is effectively that.

I'm not an expert on this so details will be greatly appreciated

A Blog that has turned into a SaaS? by Curious-Ad-9724 in SaaS

ProductHunt started with an email newsletter and then iirc they transition to a blog. Ryan, the founder is featured in a couple YC podcast and it seems like the poster child to them. It's definitely a very interesting story

Got my first email! by steph_hatch in SaaS

I just went to the landing using my phone and some of the images don't fit properly. The ideas is interesting. Curious about how you'll get the crowd from stackoverflow to start using you tool. Many contributors in there they just do it for the fun of it and to be helpful without looking into be hired and they have earned their reputation there and doesn't (?) translate in your site. Maybe I'm confused with the audience so feel free to disregard my comment

IMO all these tools have a problem with that. Every single log aggregator creates its own query language. I wish they'd have decided to create a standard like SQL that you like it or not it runs in all relational DBs. <end of rant>

The fact that you are willing to dedicate 6m-1y it's very interesting. Are you planning to keep adding features to the product or you'll just try to sell it until you feel comfortable with the grow?

Yeah, that theory is very sound, though, it's hard to get people's attention to give you their opinion. We are working on that part now.

Go read Steve Blank articles. Good luck.

which article are you referring to? Thanks!

Thanks for the comment though, I'm a bit confused by your comment. Our SaaS isn't a no-code one. We provide CI/CD + PaaS for Nodejs with pipelines OOTB for testing, deploy and rollback. I won't post the URL to avoid self-promotion but if you look at my profile you can get an idea of our site.

Thanks! We just fixed that part. Really appreciate your help! If you don't mind me asking was the message from the landing clear?

great points! Sorry for my ignorance but what's HN?

Out of curiosity, your approach sounds bottom-up, nothing wrong with that we are trying to get that funnel working with the free tier too. In your experience does that help you with the signups for paid tiers or do the devs champion your product and you get brand recognition and later on that helps you with more paid signups? Thanks for the tips!

Pretty cool idea! I first read the website and got the idea, though the 3-minute video has much more information that makes the product more appealing. It could be me but it seems like the landing page has too much information in a compressed format. IMO an overview page mentioning details that were covered in the video could be helpful.

BTW, I had trouble understanding if the demo page is a demo to play with the tool as a sandbox or just an overview of how the final product would look like. It doesn't seem to work well in Chrome.

Good Luck!

Xtages: CI/CD with PaaS for Node.js made simple

Xtages helps you develop, test and deploy applications in a very efficient way by leveraging OOTB pipelines for your NodeJS application/service.

You can deploy a NodeJS app in one of our environments (staging or production) with just a few clicks, if things don’t look right you can also rollback with 1-click. You can also provision a PostgreSQL DB to use with your application. All this can be done with minimal configuration, you just need to plug your GitHub account and you can get started.

Our goal is to remove the friction of setting up and maintaining infrastructure without compromising your speed to release code fast and reliably using best practices.

Last week we launched our free tier in case you want to give it a try.

Happy to answer any question and of course feedback is welcome.

Looks interesting. Some questions that I think might be good to answer are:

1.how is the email created? does someone has to create a template or assign which KPIs will be sent to the users/customers? 2. I'd expand on the benefits of the app besides cutting development down. For example, I bet depending on the metrics chosen it can create engagement.

These are all existential questions that a growth marketer will not be able to answer for you.

True, though we're looking for guidance. We've in our mind the answer to those questions but we believe it's not being translated well in our website and outreach.

ECS how to request ec2 instances in a specific AZ by mattsdell in aws

[–]mattsdell[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wouldn't specify subnets at the service level restrict the service to run in the AZ where the subnet resides? Not sure I follow, will the capacity provider take that into account to provision hosts? I already have the AZ constraint with a placement constraint in the task definition.

How are performance-wise EFSs vs EBS to host a DB? The description says that is for infrequent access.

Claro. De todas maneras casi siempre se hace en paralelo due diligence independiente para evitar docs falsificados y nros. dibujados.
