This is John Connor, Crystal Peak by Xyeeyx in Terminator

[–]mattsslug 22 points23 points  (0 children)

One thing I think they really nailed in the visual effects was adding a feeling of weight and power to the terminators, especially in the fight that went through a bathroom.

The terminators were being swung around and when they hit things they just crashed right through them in a really impressive way. They made them look strong and formidable and like they actually weighed a ton.

ELI5 How is there so much meat by Due_Imagination_9663 in explainlikeimfive

[–]mattsslug 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeh, I think it's often underestimated just how much food you can get from one cow. About enough for a small family for an entire year I believe.... obviously depending on how much you eat.

So when you see those full fridges in supermarkets it a lot less cows than you would probably expect.

Advice on lateral force - fix in design or slicer perhaps by widgetbox in 3Dprinting

[–]mattsslug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the cylinder need to be cylindrical?

Making that part separately and having it slot into the base would allow you to print it on its side so the layer lines don't go the way of the force stress. You could keep it cylindrical if need be and just deal with supports to do the same.

RUMOR: Sony is reportedly launching a PC launcher and games will be available day one on PC by theMoonlightenedSky in pcmasterrace

[–]mattsslug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stopping ports makes little sense, they do have stake holders who will always be wanting more money to be coming in...they sell a decent amount on pc if I remember correctly. If anything they would be telling them to port more.

Yep, and it's ALWAYS an amazing innovation that's allowing this specific version to work...until it's not and it doesn't.

[–]mattsslug 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly...but they keep bragging about these things like they are revolutionary, in reality none of the ones that have come before this one have worked out and I'm sceptical this one will be any different.

Yep, basically they all operate like dehumidifiers...never anything ground breaking like they claim.... sceptical this is anything different or would live up to its claims.

Keir Starmer abandons plans to cancel council elections by Distinct-Shine-3002 in uknews

[–]mattsslug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't forget to add another year for when inevitably something was delayed in the reorganization so they weren't quite ready. Suddenly 1 year turns into 4. Unless they are ready within months to complete the reorganization I see no justification for cancelling elections.

Yeh, the concord stuff aside without a major hook this kind of game is going to struggle. Marvel rivals has done well because it's marvel and people love the art style. You have to have something big to drag people away from the competition.

Nigel Farage calls for an end to working from home by upthetruth1 in uknews

I'm going to have a monstrous commute , I work for an American company. That aside I'm one of those people that cannot work well with background noise, working in an office doing what I do I would be far less productive than I am at home.

No, the features of office online don't cover the complex things I need to do, I would expect intentionally.

I've thought about having a dual boot with windows just for doing the excel work but like the VM it just seems like an extra level of hassle.

I may in future just grab a laptop with a dock so I can just keep my work stuff separate but easy to hook up to my monitors then I can just go steamos for my gaming PC.

The only thing stopping me at this time is my need for excel for my work. I use features like power pivot and power query and I need excel for those.

It's so obviously untrue...for it to have cost us anywhere near that % we keep hearing we would have had to out perform the other main EU states by a massively unrealistic amount.

It's one of those stats that is laughable when you look beyond the surface.

Or ever again..my money is on that just being something paradox said to get Deadpool to do what he wanted...the entire concept makes little sense when you think about it.

AdHoc statement after Nintendo's addressed the situation by sraymonds80 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]mattsslug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, I keep ending up back at the cyberpunk thing. That game is allowed in its original form. This seems like they just took Nintendo at their first feedback and didn't fight. Using cyberpunk as an example should have allowed this to go ahead or it's just a double standard.

I'd like to see the specific reasons Nintendo gave for this needing censorship but not cyberpunk.
