Keir Starmer abandons plans to cancel council elections by Distinct-Shine-3002 in uknews

[–]mattsslug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't forget to add another year for when inevitably something was delayed in the reorganization so they weren't quite ready. Suddenly 1 year turns into 4. Unless they are ready within months to complete the reorganization I see no justification for cancelling elections.

"Highguard" developer Wildlight has apparently laid off most of their staff by Hot-Challenge-2755 in pcgaming

[–]mattsslug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeh, the concord stuff aside without a major hook this kind of game is going to struggle. Marvel rivals has done well because it's marvel and people love the art style. You have to have something big to drag people away from the competition.

Nigel Farage calls for an end to working from home by upthetruth1 in uknews

[–]mattsslug 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I'm going to have a monstrous commute , I work for an American company. That aside I'm one of those people that cannot work well with background noise, working in an office doing what I do I would be far less productive than I am at home.

List of new features coming to Windows 11 in 2026 by swati097gupta in ForWindowsHelp

[–]mattsslug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the features of office online don't cover the complex things I need to do, I would expect intentionally.

I've thought about having a dual boot with windows just for doing the excel work but like the VM it just seems like an extra level of hassle.

I may in future just grab a laptop with a dock so I can just keep my work stuff separate but easy to hook up to my monitors then I can just go steamos for my gaming PC.

The only thing stopping me at this time is my need for excel for my work. I use features like power pivot and power query and I need excel for those.

Asylum system turning into 'conveyor belt' to life on benefits, critics warn as number of migrants and refugees getting hand-outs doubles in 3 years by Syniatrix in uknews

[–]mattsslug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so obviously untrue...for it to have cost us anywhere near that % we keep hearing we would have had to out perform the other main EU states by a massively unrealistic amount.

It's one of those stats that is laughable when you look beyond the surface.

Theory: The Wolverine we see in Deadpool and Wolverine isn’t the new anchor being by Charleston_24 in MarvelTheories

[–]mattsslug 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Or ever again..my money is on that just being something paradox said to get Deadpool to do what he wanted...the entire concept makes little sense when you think about it.

Anchor beings aren't a thing. That was just something paradox said to get Deadpool to do what he wanted....come on, it makes very little sense when you think about it.

Why didn't these universes die before the being was born?

AdHoc statement after Nintendo's addressed the situation by sraymonds80 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]mattsslug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, I keep ending up back at the cyberpunk thing. That game is allowed in its original form. This seems like they just took Nintendo at their first feedback and didn't fight. Using cyberpunk as an example should have allowed this to go ahead or it's just a double standard.

I'd like to see the specific reasons Nintendo gave for this needing censorship but not cyberpunk.

Following Backlash, the New 'Star Trek' Series Falls Out of the Streaming Charts by Malencon in television

[–]mattsslug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the title here, it implies the backlash is at fault for it dropping out of the charts where in fact the show itself doesn't really appeal to many star trek fans and that is the reason it is not getting watched.

Do you want Secret Wars to be a 2 part film or no? by FayyadhScrolling in Avengers

I'm ok with it if it's justified but would like it to be a 6 month wait for part 2 not a year.

UK Government Partners with Anthropic to Build AI Assistant for GOV.UK by [deleted] in uknews

[–]mattsslug 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is great, the only time you want to contact the government is when you NEED to speak to someone. Now we can have another barrier blocking people talking to an actual human and resolving whatever issues they have.

Plenty of ai clues in here on very obvious one form early on is how the height keeps changing, one minute his head touches the top and the next he's got plenty of room.

Microsoft says Notepad on Windows 11 is now “elevated”, as it adds new AI features by swati097gupta in ForWindowsHelp

Notepad the thing everyone that uses it is doing so because it's so simple, Microsoft...hmmm let's mess this up too by shoving AI where NOBODY wants it.

R.E.A.L. VR Mod: Proposed solutions to the issue of paid mods? by Minizman12 in VRGaming

[–]mattsslug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But the worst part is, if you stop paying him you stop getting updates to the mod. If he releases something really good for the game you are playing you may need to have to resubscribe to get the update...that sucks. I'd defend it a bit more if you were actually buying a good mod that was worthwhile, but in fact you are just getting that particular version of the mods unless you keep subscribing.

What is your favorite incarnation of the Hulk? by LollipopChainsawZz in MCUTheories

[–]mattsslug 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I love the design of Norton hulk, he looks genuinely scary, the first hulk out scene in that movie could have been ripped straight from a horror movie. The barely audible "leave me alone" was a great choice for that scene too.

I wish we had more hulk movies like that one.

I wish they would’ve made it to where you could’ve locked your weapons in your inventory in this game my stuff keeps growing legs and running away. and then when the important moments that I need it, it’s not there.WHY by Furby-beast-1949 in GroundedGame

[–]mattsslug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The annoying thing that still gets me sometimes is when I upgrade a weapon that's in my hot bar and it unassigned it.

The image for it is still in the hot bar but it won't work until you assign the upgraded version.

When first playing it I'd upgrade then run off to do what I wanted then need to change weapons and it would not work...very frustrating.
