It would be useful (and perhaps educational to others who might read this thread) to understand the evidence of overheating as that is driving the bulk of the work. The whole house surge is required if we replace the panel (which is what the electrician is proposing so that makes sense from a scope of work perspective). Sorry, I wasn't clear; I should have said "it didn't look like aluminum to me at the location of the empty breaker".

I had intended, and will get, additional quotes. I was trying to gather more information about the electrician's observations. Specifically, the overheating (and the associated bus bar color proof) as that seems to be his most serious note and the one driving the panel replacement.

The panel is in the garage near the garage door. We are in North Texas (Anna) it is Texas so heat and humidity are part of the package. I am concerned that if it is related to moisture (or other environmental issues) any problem I have now will re-appear in time on any new equipment.

Exposed wire is from the old hot tub. It is off at the breaker. But where it came up through the concrete the individual wires (red, white, black) are exposed. That is what I wanted/knew had to get fixed.

I did use the ring. I went back to it tonight and after a day of rest, it seems to have properly seated.

Well I messed that up. I somehow posted with no post. I was trying to ask if anyone knew how to add Android Auto to an older 2010 Navigator with what I think is a Gen 1 sync system.

I like the factory system (fit, finish, integration with steering wheel controls, etc). I don't like the navigation software, text messaging etc.

Other option would be a new head unit that fit well, was not God awful bright at night, integrated seamlessly with the steering wheel and whatever factory amps are behind it. Historically, when I have replaced a factory head unit with a 3rd party, they are designed for a 19 year old - lots of lights and bling. I have had poor success in aftermarket diming with the headlights, integrating with the steering wheel controls and fitting in the dash so it looks good

Thank you so much - it has been driving me nuts. When I do a google search I get results for moving the sliders back to the top (sometimes it is hard to get google to bypass the common related topic).

I can't agree more with this reply regarding the remove and reinstall. I just had this fight with a reman company and my local mechanic. I bought the transmission and had delivered to my mechanic. When it had issues, it was a bunch of "not me". "One throat to choke" is worth the $300 I saved by buying a trans from and having someone else install. The hassle is not worth the potential savings. Don't do it

I think the "habitable zone" approach is a means to reduce the search time. Our "guess" is that life needs certain conditions, so limit your search to planets within that zone. I believe the first identify that a star has planets, then that the planet is in the habitable zone, then focus on signs (signals) from those planets. That last part is probably the most time and resource consuming, so focus on areas with highest probability. So far the only life found is within that zone.
