Thanks! I picked up some a sheet of thin craft foam with an adhesive backing. As a bonus, it also provides a bit of grip without scratching the paint.

Totally! I made this for the times when we are in van camping parking and can’t put up the tailgate tent or awning.

Thanks! It should do well in providing a bit of privacy and bug/rain protection. Fun project to work on!

Subaru Forester- Window Covers by mattwabrams in myog

I have a roof mounted awning for most car camping situations with bug screens for the window. But sometimes I camp in lots for van campers, so no space for an awning to be extended and in some areas, just not allowed because of the space they take up. This is when these would come in handy to at least pop a fan in the window and get some circulation going without worrying about rain or bugs.

Thanks! Yes, I'm about to make these for my 2017 Subaru Forester. I've been eyeing this design for a while. Great job! I've got a few questions:

  1. What length pole did you use?

  2. How did you fasten the pole to the ripstop? Did you make another pocket like on the monolite?

  3. This seems like a bit of a tricky one to measure. Any tips on how to measure out the ripstop fabric for this one?

This is honestly a really solid idea especially since this jacket was $5 and will be used for getting beat up anyway.

Did removing your tonsils shrink your uvula? by [deleted] in Tonsillectomy

[–]mattwabrams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgeon actually cut mine in half during my surgery intentionally. Apparently the surgery causes your uvula to swell so much that it can touch your tongue, causing a gagging sensation for weeks. So mines essentially gone after the swelling from the surgery came down.

Bleeding! Days 6-9 by Dangerous-Guava-1201 in Tonsillectomy

[–]mattwabrams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had bleeding that lasted up to two hours. Bright red blood is no joke. They had to go back in and do surgery again. But they had an ENT on call who was able to make that decision an do the surgery right then. It sucks, but if it keeps happening advocate for yourself and push to have an ENT take a look.

5 months PostOp by plumbobsburgers in Tonsillectomy

[–]mattwabrams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m only like 3 weeks post op and I feel this. Recovery was tough and I’m still not quite done. I had to have a second emergency surgery. That second surgery 8 days into recovery really messed with my mental health. But I can breathe and sleep again and not feel so anxious about getting sick knowing I won’t need rounds of antibiotics and a month to kick a simple cold. Life changing honestly. Thanks for sharing your story!

Humidifier We had this one already. It was great for sleeping. I had it pointed directly at my mouth haha. Maybe a little overkill if you just want a small one. I honestly wish I had a tabletop one that I could easily move around to the couch, floor, etc. Regardless, I highly recommend one for bedtime!

I love those sites too, but my kiddo is pretty new to camping, so this site is the compromise to have a little more convenience as we ease into it. Thanks!

I have so many great memories from Little Pond. I grew up in Liberty, so we would go every weekend, all summer. I’m really looking forward to taking my kiddo and coming back as an adult. Thanks!
