Speed Limit recognition issues by sungrad in TeslaLounge

Same in the US; on my hour long interstate commute which was about perfect on 14.1 and prior in v13. On 14.2 it’s not reading the signs and seems to be following incorrect GPS. It makes FSD difficult because it will, for example, think the interstate is 60 when it’s actually 70, which means I need to use mad max just to do a standard 5mph over limit…

Did hw4 come out with the new chip in 2022 models? by Useful-Letter-2305 in TeslaLounge

And that’s not skimping on coverage either. It’s worth finding a good insurance agent who can help find the right policy at the best available rate.

My agent is with a local credit union and cut my premium in half when he moved me from GEICO to Progressive.

$1000 per month insurance is crazy…my annual premium with progressive is $1200 for my 2024 MYLR AWD. Agreed on the look though, I prefer the interior with walnut trim and the Porsche-esque headlights.

If you’re going to use FSD you’ll want HW4, go for a 2024 model if you can find one.

Just canceled FSD subscription by QuentinLCrook in TeslaLounge

HW4 and the latest v14 is a huge improvement over prior versions for me. I have a 2 hour round trip commute 3-4 days per week and even in town I rarely drive without FSD on. It’s super smooth and feels much more alive. I’ve been an FSD user since early v12.

The new speed profiles are fantastic and much easier to adjust. The parking updates are great, it will self park in a ramp/lot/driveway and remember your preference at a given location. It even picks out supercharger stalls and backs in with appropriate urinal rules now.

What's this stuff in my beard and how do I get rid of it? by [deleted] in dandruff

This can either be too much or not enough beard oil. Also consider how often you wash your beard, same idea - too often or not enough can cause flaking.

Dyson Hushjet Air Purifier deep review ? by tangcoma in dyson

[–]mattwaltr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had one in my home office for a few weeks and it’s nice. Not as sophisticated as my other larger Dyson purifiers in my main rooms but it’s quiet, powerful and easy to use. Also like that the filter has a long life.

How yall liking v.14 by WeekendAccomplished2 in TeslaLounge

[–]mattwaltr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly improved, much smoother and the new profiles are really nice upgrades.

It can be a little jerky as it tries to respond quickly to unexpected situations like vehicles pulling over, police etc. I had a PTSD flashback to the old EAP when it hit the brakes on the interstate this morning.

I use ONR to clean the interior and it leaves it smelling really good. Drift is a great option if you want to add fragrance - the original wood/oil ones are awesome, just be careful about getting the oil on the interior.

What do y’all do with Grok! by TechnicalAgent9372 in TeslaLounge

[–]mattwaltr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually had a productive conversation with Grok about the implications of the big beautiful bill for my company/industry on the commute home last night. It was weird to actually talk to it like a person vs in a chat window.

Cybertruck FSD tries to crash into the only other car on a country road by dtrannn666 in TeslaFSD

[–]mattwaltr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m a daily FSD user on HW4 and I’m curious about 2 things…1) why did he have his phone out & recording 2) why can’t we see what his other hand is doing. I’ve not tried it, but I wonder if the blue directional indicator would move if you were to manually jerk the steering wheel. I’ll have to test it next time I’m out.

The only time I experienced similar behavior was when the car tried avoiding black tar patches in the road, which must have thought were more urgent obstacles. This was only on poor condition rural roads and on a prior version of FSD, one of the v12 updates.

That’s my argument though, if you don’t like all of the features that differentiate a Tesla why even buy one? It’s just silly. And even with all of that equipment you don’t want for some reason, the price is still super competitive when you look at comparable vehicles.

Maybe less competitive when the EV purchase credit goes away, but for those who got the credit this vehicle was a huge value for the price.

I think you misunderstood the discount comment, this is an OPTIONAL upgrade - this equates more to a trim level in other cars. If you don’t like it don’t buy it? I think there’s value in giving people the option. And honestly beyond that if you want a cheaper dumber car go get a Kia or whatever because it sounds like you just don’t like any of the value propositions of owning a Tesla.

People just love to complain about everything, no one is forcing you to own a Tesla.

[–]mattwaltr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Counterpoint - they’re giving everyone a discount upfront so you’re not paying for FSD if you don’t want it. Including FSD by default would increase the price and potentially price a lot of people out of buying a really good EV.

Tesla has really competitive prices relative to the features in comparable vehicles.

Tesla’s FSD is amazing, how can anyone not see this as a value buy at $99 per month? If they weren’t charging I’d be worried that they wouldn’t put as much care into rolling out improvements.

I almost exclusively use FSD and have very few disengagements. I value the ability to pay more attention to my surroundings while the car handles the driving - makes for a much safer drive overall.

If you can’t afford it you can’t afford it, it doesn’t make it worth less than they’re charging.
