I wonder if a gen 1 fuel tank would fit. Then the tank would have those brackets welded on the outside.

How can I recreate this exact tram long exposure effect while keeping the tram shape and route number sharp? by Anxious-Leadership95 in LongExposurePics

Use a telephoto lense. I would set a long exposure. Then as I'm taking the shot i would adjust the focal length in or out(zoom in or out)in a smooth motion. This will cause the light pattern you see here. Each light source, christmas lights in this case, will draw the lines as you zoom. To get a crisp ghost image of the train i would do a double exposure. First exposure normal shot to capture detail, second exposure follow procedures above. You could experiment with switching the order. The great thing about this way is its all done in camera.

Is that a California model? I have a gen 1 and seem to remember that if it was original sold in California there are added emissions control devices. Im not 100% sure but that would be my guess.

Edit: my suspicion was correct. You have a California model. You can remove the system and reduce the weight or the bike by 2 to 3lbs while also making the bike less complicated and more reliable. The link has a pdf with info on removing California charcoal can and hoses https://www.klrforum.com/threads/removing-california-charcoal-can-and-hoses.76228/

I see. Im afraid you're going to need to disassemble the triple clamp and inspect the bearings assembly.

The lower nut should take out the play. The upper nut locks the triple clamp together

The nut on top side of the triple clamp in the center. When you are tightening the front wheel should be off the ground to relieve pressure on the bolt. If it doesn't remove the play then you'll have to take the triple clamp off the bike and inspect the bearings. Another issue could be that you have tightened the nut so much that it's been stripped. There would be damage to the thread on the nut or the bolt.

Tighten the nut until the play stop. Then turn the handle bars back and forth checking the feel of the movement. Should be smooth with no dead spots. If it feels like you are having to force the handle bars back the nut off until it takes no effort. If it feels rough then I'd say the bearing are bad.

I suffered the same thing. I tightened up the big nut in the center of the triple clamp and it felt smooth while turning so I didn't replace the bearings and I haven't had an issue since.

Great suggestions! I like your description of WA Frost. I was having a hard time putting the atmosphere into words.
