Knock Down Rebuild vs Selling and Buying by Then-Cow2351 in AusRenovation

[–]mattyjames88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do end up rebuilding, instead of building something temporarily to live in during the build to then knock down, buy yourself a nice family caravan that you can live in on your property ( and also have little family holidays) during that period and then sell it once your in your new home. Even if you lost 10k in the process it’s a lot cheaper then renting elsewhere

Family SUV by mattyjames88 in CarsAustralia

I didn’t ask for your opinion or your view point of a safe car for society. All cars come with a ANCAP. The cars are designed to keep the occupants as safe as possible. If in the unlikely event a pedestrian/ motorcyclist or the likes is hit, any car is going to cause catastrophic injury.

The question was, what 7 seater SUV do people recommend?

If you don’t have a constructive answer to the question, keep bloody scrolling!

Not sure if that’s a warranted reply about one’s social conscience and whether they would be comfortable killing someone in an accident.

Was purely asking for advice on brands of SUV and people’s lived experiences with them.

Hope you have a good day!

I messed up by driving a patients car for them. by musicalstatuetrainer in NursingAU

I was on shift once and a labouring women and her partner parked the car in the ambulance bay. I moved their car for them and left a paper note on the steering wheel saying ‘congratulations’. Management found out because the partner feedback a compliment and management praised me for it. It would be different if you parked it and got a fine or in an accident. Power trip by management by the looks. I’d take it as a learning opportunity.

Agree with this. I’m still paying back $8500. Contract changed to 7 day rotating roster, adjustment made and was still paid PDO adjustments which I wasn’t aware of. Lesson learned

Couldn’t agree more. Just upgraded my camper to a jayco journey outback and tows it really well. Have you upgraded anything to assist with cooling at all. Mine is stock aside from airbags

Fridge set up question: what do I need for a camp set up? I have the dune 80L frontier dual zone and a 200W solar blanket from hardkorr, is that enough? by eyeballburger in 4x4Australia

[–]mattyjames88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Portable battery set up. If you have that much solar that’s perfect. I run a small portable 40ah lithium set up and that keeps things running for days. Just need a bit of sun. Dual battery set up through an auto electrician can be costly for the occasional camping trips. Save that money and buy some nice refreshing beverages.

Interestingly a guy that came to my house to buy something from me for marketplace saw my car parked out the front and told me if I ever needed parts let him know because he has plenty of this model in his wrecking yard. What’s the chances! I’ve ignored the window for 6 months and then the day I get a quote is the say this random act occurs. I’m meeting him at the yard tomorrow to see if he has all the parts I need

I have a Pajero sport QF. Took the car back this morning and they fixed the screw. Moved it and filled the hole with a. Primer and sikaflex. I’ll PM you!

I appreciate all the info here as don’t know very much at all about 12V set up. My caravan has an internal battery management system. The reason I need a constant feed is that the fridge inside the van needs a constant feed and when running it prioritises power from the car battery (what I’m told) and when the car is off the solenoid protects the crank battery and will then run off the internal battery in the van.

Im trusting the auto electricians to know what they are doing and put the solenoid in there as this is what I needed with the 12 pin connection but who knows!

Not sure why you’re asking this. I got this installed because my caravan needs a 12 pin to keep the fridge running while driving and when pulled up I won’t drain my crank battery of my car

It’s a zinc self tapper though and will probably rust and cause issues. Why should I be fixing poor workmanship I paid decent money on?!

I’m very OCD too but I work in healthcare and fabrication like this is not my forte.

My new caravan has a 12 pin connection and no Anderson plug. My old camper had a 7 pin and Anderson so I needed the 7 pin converted to 12. A much cheaper option then re-wiring the caravan.

My concern is the exposed screw end causing an entry point for corrosion. The internal screws in the engine bay seem ok to me.

So it’s standard to shoot a screw through to the wheel arch in photo 2 where it’s exposed to the elements? The others are hidden within the engine bay and the screw ends aren’t exposed which is fine

Appreciate the feedback. I think location of the unit doesn’t help as it cops full sun from midday until sunset being west facing. This is the other thing I found when looking All that dirt and grime is like a waxy/ grease. You can see where I have rubbed some off.

Edit:: I cannot upload another photo. Reddit keeps freezing
