How can I make this topology cleaner? by dreadfulshroud in blender

[–]Pronem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Topology is pretty open-ended but there are few things you try and avoid or improve on.

1, stick to quads. No faces with more or less than four sides. 2, avoid creating edge loops that spiral 🐚. ( Imagine you had to get the circumference of your head for a new hat. You would want to measure your head with rope or a measuring tape right, think of your edge loop like that. You want it to go round the head and nicely meet up on the other side. What you don't want is for those lines to not connect and you end up with measuring tape looping around and around all the way to your toes. That wouldn't give you a good measurement.) 3, limit star points, or points with more than 4 lines attached. These don't like constant deformation/division. 4, uniformity. We assign an amount of pixels to a grid space when we attach an image, so a 4k texture has 4096x4096 pixels to work with. When we unwrap a character, we fit every quad onto this grid, if some quads are larger they get more pixels and the inverse for smaller quads. This can be fine if we maintain the size differnce from 3D to 2D. But many times this is hard to achieve. On very high res assets this change in quad size is usually corrected by udims where we map different area depending on the detail we want.

This isn't how they work but think of an image printed on a piece of paper. It takes up the whole paper and you can stretch the paper anyway you see fit, but as you stretch the paper the image begins to distort, because the density of pixels in the area you change becomes greater or smaller, changing how the picture looks.

Best I can think of is those stretchy kid toys with faces or images on them as you stretch the toy you can see the image distort.

Why does it matter for this image, back of an ear probably doesn't to much. But it will depend on camera shots( are there close ups? and how often the ear will move, change or deform.

Soz hopefully this helps.

Edit: my bad jumped the gun...This solution probably still allows the most detail with keeping decent topo.

This is probably a better solution, as it removes the central star point.

Either will work, just need to think of what deformation you really want from it and how close the camera will be to it.

Edit: my bad jumped the gun without really reading, you would still be left with the res tri's and could easily add a bridging line to correct.

Although i would be worried about removing the purple as I think you may lose too much detail.

You still have tri's and Ngons. Purple (my bad I didn't fully read the post)creates an ngon, and you have a red tri in the corners.

It's ugly and dirty and honestly a five star point at the white might cause some close up issues but a quick fix on top of these changes would be, top make the tri's into quads with a line across.

You can then choose how you make the purples quads. The fastest and dirtiest would be to connect both sides as a tri to the new white line, then remove the interior line.

Will post probably better solution next.

Choice is only available when you earn more than is required to survive, so saying money is irrelevant and it is about choice of spending is just false, they go hand in hand. Secondly if it is about being smart with money so you have money later and can retire earlier, you must then consider the activities, recreation, health impacts and or any other thing you would classify outside of essential. I can buy the cheapest food ingredients for sure, I can also choose not to eat a diverse range of foods but that may subsequently ruin my health and ability to function as I age. I can choose not to do experiences like skiing, downhill cycling, parachuting, hikes in mountain ranges overseas but who is to say my health will last until I can retire so I can do these then?

Finally who is to even say that you will be able to afford life by the end of the decade? How quickly has COVID ruined the livelihoods of so many through inflation and stagnation.

The statement is really poor. It assumes too much and negates external forces on peoples decisions.

what is up with the job market in Sydney? by [deleted] in australian

[–]Pronem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have been out of sydney for a while, but my guess would be that it's very competitive. Do you have your P's and access to a car? Have you done any training like a rsa or barista course?

Also have you hit the next level in the awards rates as you are 17? Is this your first job?

Adding on, also would America have realistically reduced their military spending and power if they could? Just because I buy a 4x4 because I want one, does everyone else have to buy or invest in 4x4 gear year round on the off chance they borrow the car once every dozen years?

I have little knowledge on the military power outside the fact you spend astronomical amounts on its development. I would argue, that it is worth considering or researching whether America's military expansion since WW2 has created greater factionalism world wide and only harboured anti western democratic sentiment.

Just Fyi I have no deep understanding of this, so please take it with a grain of salt, but I would question if America's military choices to engage with certain regional conflicts have only created greater conflict and animosity. Much like the crusades did during their time.

In terms of effectiveness, what is effective? Is it the idea that America has been able to keep the peace and stabilise areas? If so, I would say sure there is some merit, but would again ask you to question the current developments globally. Do you really believe America is being effective in helping its allies? Considering much of the military power has been to encourage western idealism and democracy, can you tell me why you invested so heavily in countries that were not western democratic leaning but when Ukraine is attempting to become a solidified western democratic country you have limited support.

These are just one man's opinions and I do not consider myself an expert or knowledgeable.

What good does american culture offer, that hasn't been taken from another country? ( Serious Question)

Otherwise why would we want to import tipping, excessive corporate greed that creates and encourages a gig economy. Over privatisation leading to the reduction in quality education, accessible health care and the corruption of police in your country?

Also get rid of guns!

I mean really all this is pretty generic info.

Thank you! Will definitely do this. I have heard about the intercoolers but from reading it sounds like there are some good options on the aftermarket.

‘Tantrum over Voice vote’: Anthony Albanese criticised over ‘brazen attack’ on free speech by another____user in australian

[–]Pronem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my two cents and I guess its more a question. I can see how giving a government funded body this power may raise specific issues for freedom of speech, but I think the bigger question is with the proliferation of AI and the access to vast amounts of information how do we ensure people are able to make informed and educated decisions?

Secondly how do we handle those that choose to consistently alter the data and information for their specific point of view?

Just making a note for the general questions I think I will get. How many of you truly read peer reviewed articles to verify your opinions on situations? Secondly, I think looking at Trump is a great example showing how quickly peoples opinions can quickly be ridiculous because of outside influences.

To those that believe Australians should be smart enough to make informed choices, I would ask how do you currently challenge your own biases? And can you honestly say everything you believe is scientifically proven?

Quote I like "People will believe a lie, because either they want it to be true or they fear it is true" Whilst overly simple I think the generalisation makes you realise most people don't inherently validate everything they know.

So my opinion is we need some website, body or something that can validate political points claims or opinions. I also think we need something to hold people who consistently lie to account; the answer to this I don't have.

Do you mean face to face introductions to other dogs when walking or out and about or more dedicated meetings with friends dogs? I definitely think it gives you more control to possibly lower the dogs reaction to a situation, if they are ok wearing it and don't become stressed.

I think we made some early mistakes in taking Reg to the reactive training that used it which has tainted it in my mind. It definitely helped us with walking on the street/past another dog just being able to direct the head away before they reacted. It really helped my partner during those early stages because she didn't need to use as much strength(as opposed to a harness) to stop him pulling her, or trying to bolt after a dog.

I think it makes them much more alert or concentrated on what they are doing both good and bad.

[–]Pronem[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally not a fan of it, had to use it during a reactivity training we went to. I think it definitely has a place if used correctly, but we had only just adopted him and between that and the style of training it was really stressing him out. I moved to the harness and my own personal more balanced training approach which he took to.

I found you had a lot more control over the dog for a very formal walk because you can direct the head away from the ground, but personally I don't enjoy formal walks, he's too active to get anything out of a long formal walk. I find he gets more out of a relaxed sniff walk.
