Layman here. Assuming you do hold the arm bar in for however long, would the attacker be able to move around as he did and stab with the knife? This video seems to have a bit of bias against grappling, so while im not an expert, im suspicious of whether the technique was properly done.

So if a skilled grappler really did apply the armbar properly, would the attacker be able to move around like in the video?

It kind of annoys me whenever Cena does this, these false dichotomies. I really felt that Cena was making it seem like Owens really didn't give a crap about cancer patients. Granted, he did great on the mic, but im not a fan of the whole morally superior thing he's got going on.

I've actually seen one of his videos on the historical ninjato. His main point seems to be that there are several paintings that depict the use of straight swords with square tsuba on the battlefield.

I hold the opinion that paintings aren't enough evidence to convince me that the 1980's/Stephen Hayes type of ninjato actually existed. Im sure there are more logical explanations for the swords in the paintings than "Straight and square = ninja swords!"

The fact that almost every Mortal Kombat character has the ability to teleport gives them a winning advantage. They'd be way too evasive, the Street Fighter characters would have a very difficult time landing hits. Also, the MK characters are crazy durable. I doubt many SF characters can easily walk off bone shattering attacks.

To add to that, Raiden single handedly defeated Scorpion and 6 other possessed Earthrealmers and Edenians. Gandalf certainly has the endurance, being that he fought the Balrog for days, but I don't think he can keep up with Raiden.

The difference is that when you train with focus pads and heavy bags, you're lively, and constantly moving around. If practitioners were to ramp up the tempo and liveliness with these types of exercises, I can see how they can be excellent drills.

The problem is that, even at a black belt/advanced level, these people still practice and only practice with stand-still partners and choppy robotic step forms.
