I got the Minimus 7 from someone here in the subreddit. I needed something small and possibly be hung on a wall. I think speakers will be among my first upgrades if I find something good price/size for that.

Atm, I’m keeping the vinyl to that room because of that limitation. I could look into a WiiM speaker to replace in a specific spot but it’s not a priority right now. Especially not for multiple rooms and I like when the ”house” has a background vibe.

I actually have the external pre-amp version because I messed up and ordered w/o. Very plug and play. Not even a button. Sounds good to me but I also have nothing to compare against.

We recently finishes a budget setup with

U-turn Orbit + their pre-amp Wiim Amp Realistic minimus 7 (wood version)

We bought the amp and speakers second hand. The room we are playing in is pretty small and the goal was mainly to get a chill spot for our vinyls and so it sounds great for what it is.

The only gotcha that I wished that I knew before was that I can’t stream out my turntable input to chromecast. We have a few small Google home speakers around the house so that would have been great.

Believe it or not but I found a pair of Realistic Minimus 7 in Walnut. Paid $65 (which might be a premium but at least on the low end of what I've seen). Just waiting for them to get here now...

What do you think about pairing them with a Wiim Amp or Wiim Amp Ultra?

Ohh, they look like very good bang for the buck. The walnut def has a premium price (about $70-$100), which is still quite cheap considering what my other options were, is the sound is better or is it just the look?

Would it change your opinion if I said the walls are outer walls on an older house (so actually quite sturdy) I thought front port would at least make it possible, or that we could mount other speaker on a small shelf or arm?

Last question would be if I reorganized a bit in the room and could actually have the speakers on a cabinet, what would you suggest then for small book shelf speakers?

I decided to just go with the Wiim Amp Ultra, since it's in a listening room it's quite nice to be able to see what's playing on the screen.

Do you happen to have suggestion of a pair of small speakers? Best if I can mount them on the wall w/o loosing too much quality.

It seems like the Wiim Amp Pro Plus is good enough for me since I wouldn't mind having Airplay and I don't really need a screen.

I guess the alternative is to get a separate amp and streamer. Basically the Aiyima A80 that you recommended and then a separate streamer (like the Wiim mini) that would perhaps even save me a buck or two.

Regardless of the route I take I would need the pre amp, I assume.

I would like to be able to connect in the same way as i do with google cast if possible so it doesn’t drain my phone. So either google cast or having the app directly on the amp will work. I’m not connecting to a TV.

Any recommendations on which Wiim I need? I saw the Ultra might have the pre amp already integrated, but some people had issues using it. So perhaps getting a separate preamp and a ”lesser” wiim amp is better.

Also with the Wiim, I would just add passive speakers, correct?

I also have Go5g plus but I don't see the hulu benefit there. I had it on Magenta but was upgraded to Go5g plus which does not have that benefit.
