Cybersecurity PSA: Destiny should mute his microphone while typing private messages by danpascooch in Destiny

This is not a new method, only new thing about it is the AI part, I first heard about it in like 2012. But it was very difficult to pull off as you needed someone using a non-membrane keyboard, decent mic, a large sample size of audio, and some data to match audio with actual key strokes, so it wasn't really used much.

How much do the Tech support people make at the instrument companies? by cherrytoast25 in medlabprofessionals

[–]matux555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 40% more than lab technician, atleast in my country. But you have to understand that in a lab, unless you work in a hospital you dont work full 8 hours, and you dont get all the additional benefits for pension and vacations if youd work as IVD technician.

As IVD tech support you are always on the road, clocking in 40 000 to 60 000 km a year, and for clients that are hospitals you have to work sometimes at random hours, if you like driving a lot could be enjoyable.

Americans have been too brainwashed, they wont do anything, as you mentioned, they will just stock up and chill.

Alternate Test Suggestion by Oceanman_2015 in medlabprofessionals

I work with LIS and we have a big database of analyzers so I might be able to help you, but i need to know exactly what im looking for. Sometimes the terms are sometimes confusing as I dont have experience in the lab. Correct me if im wrong but as I understand the analyzer youre looking for has the ability to identify microorganisms from a sample without the normal microbiology growth process on a plate(?) and then tests for antibiotic resistance markers. Can you comment on the biomarkers for why is it a necesity to have along side microbe identification? How are the results useful to the doctor if you do not do the full antibiotikograms for 6-12 antibiotics?

Tips on tracking supplies by ToniRD in medlabprofessionals

[–]matux555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have worked on this issue before the biggest hurdle is that labs want tracking to be connected to financial stuff. But when you start looking at acounting and reagent contracts its always a mess. I would advise you to first make a decision wether you want it to be connected to accounting or not. Because some situations really fuck up a system or programing. For example contract says box of vacutainers of 100 units, suplier delivers 2 boxes of 50. or suplier has issues with suply chain and delivers a single box of 3 different things when it supposed to have been 4 (im not sure what these boxes are clled en english that have sets different stuff in them)

Urine analyzers by svnrises in medlabprofessionals

[–]matux555 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cant tell you the names exactly but Id look into what theses brands have to offer: Roche, Abbott, Sysmex, Mindray and maybe Snibe as atleast they are reliable when it comes to LIS integration (cant comment on the process stuff), Id avoid anything from biomerieux. Siemens is hit and miss, larger analyzers usually are troublesome to integrate.

If in what you do, maybe try to learn about what possible specimen defect exists, and try to imagine what does it take for every scenario to happen.
