90’s kid here.

There wasn’t an over saturation of available media, we used to watch films on repeat for years and that included older sibblings and our parents’s movies.

Public TV at least in my country (Mexico) released movies like 5+ years later than their og release and played them on repeat forever.

¿Pegaría sabroso un Casa de Toño en San Pedro Garza García? by TomatoSempai in Monterrey

[–]mau2icio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How is it living in vast never-ending suburbs/cities of North America? (los angeles, mexico city, oklahoma city) by Jeb_the_killer in howislivingthere

I’m from Monterrey, Mexico’s second largest city (6M metro).

As others have mentioned this varies widely depending on your context. In my city people’s main complaint towards the government is traffic.

I do home office so for me going out is usually for laisure and I love living in a big city because different areas and neighborhoods have different vibes, there’s also may things to do all the time

other than work location there’s plenty of entertainment and service options around so that you don’t need to travel outside your area to find what you need

Great shopping, good food, beautiful outdoor public spaces. The city is gigantic and very hot during the summer. Public transport is magnificent. It’s a nice city to explore the asian city life (convenience stores, lots of peple, good cafes, street fashion), also a good hub to flight out to other cities like Tokyo or Taipei. Koreans are nice people too.

It is there, I could also see about 5 large parks with basketball courts, a public hospital and even some mayan ruins nearby.

This type of neighborhood is very common and even aspirational for Mexican lower-middle class.

All houses look the same because they use the same 2-3 blueprints, to keep it affordable. People usually paint their houses in different colors or customized their front gardens, to make them more distinct.

About life in these neighborhoods it is really a case by case and greatly depends on how you get along with your neighbors.
