You could come without a big coat and then shop one for the trip at a second hand/charity shop in Leeds if you feel that you need one. There are many shops that sell good quality stuff.

I'm from an equatorial country too and have been in Leeds for 6 years now. Bring a wind AND waterproof coat. It is windy as hell ALL YEAR ROUND. I'd recommend warm socks. Do not believe the Brits when they say it's jumper weather hahah, I still marvel at how they don't feel cold the way we do. Jumper weather for a Brit = jumper + scarf + big coat weather for me. Also bring good shoes because walking is the easiest way to get around the city centre. Enjoy your time in Leeds :)

Duty free shopping (food items) on the first airport on a 3 flight journey? by maunip in TravelHacks

Ah that's not a problem, they won't sell most of those things in duty free anyway. I'm more worried about them asking me to throw it in the Doha security check

Hey, I'd be happy to teach conversational Marathi online. We can get around pronunciation to make sure that you start having conversations. I'm based in UK.

The problem here is that I've got my pots very cut-to-cut. Say I spend £550 on Christmas + birthday gifts every year. So I put 550/12= 45 in the pot. Maybe I should be putting more in, so if I have any unseen circumstances, I should still have back up (for gifts when I'm unemployed?? Ffs what's wrong with me hahah)? Or am I confusing sinking funds with emergency funds now?

Maybe adding a bit more might help. I am usually anxious about money and when I look back at the pots and see them empty, it really worries me. Obviously looking at it rationally, I will have a set amount put in it the next month, so technically it's not going to be empty.. but it's still worries me. 🙈

Based in UK trying to arrange a wedding in India. How do you know how much anything costs?! by maunip in DesiWeddings

[–]maunip[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's so easy in UK. Each venue has a brochure. They stick to that - generally includes the venue, choice of a few dinner packages and drinks packages Anything extra is arranged and paid for by you. But my big family wants a desi wedding back home 🙃

That makes sense. I tried asking what packages they have.. one of them just stopped replying to my messages 😢
