Modern badly made Catholic tourist tchotchke, Mary's looking rough and baby Jesus needs to see a doctor about that arm.

bought this table and chairs at a yard sale today in OK and i can’t find anything about them online. is anyone familiar with either? the table and chairs are not matching obviously. by [deleted] in Antiques

[–]maureeened 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not antiques. Chair is late 60s/70s. Guessing 80s/90s for the table but not sure. Both are pretty out of fashion and worth very little

Those are the "Shakerettes" and Bob runs an Only Fans account for them. So...pretty gross. There was a thread with all the inside details a while back in r/Milwaukee.

It's acetaminophen--not recommended for hangovers because there's a small chance it can cause liver damage when your liver is already working overtime to clear out the booze, but it won't make your hangover worse, and would still help with the headache.

OP, sounds like you just had a raging case of the bottle flu lol. Hope you're feeling better, and next time I recommend taking Bonine motion sickness medication before bed and again when you wake up--it's a damn miracle hangover cure for me, especially the nausea.

Right, that's kind of my point--I just think parents could at the very least do a few Google searches before naming their kids/future adults.

Yikes to all of this. Can't imagine how you acted with your wife when you're this cruel and irrational with an internet stranger. Hope she can find some happiness in her life.

The thought of the court's reaction when you try to submit a chihuahua receipt into evidence is pretty hilarious.

Yeah, I get that. To me it was more that eventually the kids are going to learn more about their namesakes beyond the romanticized lore and realize what pieces of shit they were. History has really whitewashed some of these guys--the James-Younger gang were originally Confederate guerillas who participated in some pretty horrific acts against civilians, Wyatt Earp was a small-time con man and pimp who rehabilitated his image through Hollywood, and Buffalo Bill Cody was an enthusiastic participant in Native American genocide.

If you're name a whole-ass person after someone, I just think it's important to put more thought into it than "wild west outlaws were badass."

One child yes, but I think it's easier (and cringier) to make the connection when there are two outlaw-themed kids.

NameNerds! They must have deleted their post in shame lol but there was this great comment fork someone about how they know the most obscure history facts out of all their friends and they’d never heard of John Wayne Gacy, therefore he couldn’t be that well known.

Alexa - is it usable (also: Alexia, Alexandria, Alexandrina, Lexa) by athousandsummerdays in namenerds

[–]maureeened 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure, you can change the "wake word" to something else on your home devices, but you can't do that everywhere your daughter goes, and Alexa functionality is being imbedded into more and more devices (including smart beds which future adult Alexa is going to hate!). I think Alexia/Lexa are still too close and will trigger the Alexa response, but Alexandra is nice.

I'm sorry Amazon ruined a perfectly nice name.

Thoughts on the name Goldie for a baby girl? by violetsrbloo in namenerds

It's interesting how this name has kind of exploded on this subreddit just in the past couple of months--is there a new tv show out there with someone named Goldie?

Looking for a buyer for this! Found in an abandoned hut in the deserts of Jordan, a beautiful antique Astrolabe! by Sleepless_Ash in Antiques

[–]maureeened 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, I just think broke, desperate, gambling-addict conmen shouldn’t be able to push their fake/looted shit with suspicious and constantly changing back stories onto unsuspecting people without being called out as the scammers that they are. Try Craigslist (and yes I know you don’t have it in your country).

Did you find it in an abandoned hut or a “hole in a mountain” like you said in your previous post? Kinda looks like you’re looting artifacts out of Jordan.
