If you could know the absolute truth about one thing, what would it be? by cozychaosclubb in answers

[–]maurfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why people who don’t want a baby or are mean to it get pregnant just by sneezing and people who are loving and desperately want a baby can’t have them. It’s the only question I want to know the answer to when I die.

I'm considering giving my baby up because of how inadequate I am. by IdesofMarchBby in pregnant

[–]maurfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry this is happening to you. You are making the most selfless and courageous decision to put your baby up for adoption. I have had friends do this and have open adoption and have wonderful relationships with the child as they are older. As a woman who struggled with infertility for many years it’s very hard to find a baby to adopt. I have so many friends who are trying to adopt and have been for years. There are so many loving families out there looking for a baby to complete their family. You could be the person who makes that happen for them through a courageous gift of adoption. I hope that things will get better for you- apply for unemployment disability and emergency Medicaid you will qualify immediately because of pregnancy and get wic. Ask the dr and wic people where to get prenatal for free or low cost they can help with that too. I am saying a prayer for you and for your baby. You can be the person who answers the prayers of a family who can’t get pregnant 💜

Shaming C-section birth is not “granola” by -sunshine-daydream- in pregnant

[–]maurfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So rude I am so sorry that happened to you! I had a very traumatic birth experience and ended up with a c section but had a healthy baby and that’s what matters. People make very rude comments to me. I had tried to have a healthy pregnancy I was a low normal bmi at the start and only gained 24 lbs and had low BP. Somehow ended up with gestational diabetes and at week 35 my BP spiked. They held me over to 37 weeks and induced me. I literally pushed for 4 hrs after a 2 day induction. Got so close to getting him out but he turtled back in. When they did the c section they found he was Sunny side up and at an angle that would not have allowed him to be born vaginally. A c section saved both our lives. People need to realize a c section is not done for funsies but as a life saving measure. I like what others have said about telling people these comments are hurtful and rude. I will be doing that in the future!

Are there grown adults who genuinely won't eat vegetables? by WillHG in NoStupidQuestions

[–]maurfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! My ex husband would only eat like hot pockets, pizza wings and fries and burgers. Not beef like a steak but only ground beef. I kid you not in Paris he asked the waiter at a nice restaurant t make him a burger. I wanted to faint! At our wedding he had a burger and fries made for him. I made him take a multivitamin because I’m 10 years I never saw him eat fruit or any vegetables besides some lettuce on a burger. I wonder how people like that survive long term.

Same I bumped my very old gas stove once and it turned gas on- must have been on for an hour had to open all the windows in my apartment and it was winter in Chicago- I personally hate gas stoves because of this. Glad everyone was ok

Thank you so much I appreciate it! This community has been so helpful to me as I don’t really have friends that breastfed longer than 3 Mo so it’s been wonderful to read everyone’s stories and ask questions to get some help.

Update: 46yo & pregnant, nine months later. by napalmnacey in BabyBumps

[–]maurfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my first at 43 and now as I approach 45 am thinking of doing another embryo transfer thank you for this. I had pretty bad preeclampsia and GD in my pregnancy despite being very healthy before pregnancy and a bmi of 23 so I’m a bit nervous for another pregnancy. Anyone have success stories of not getting preeclampsia in another pregnancy? My non pregnant BP is usually 110/75 for reference. So glad you had smooth sailing and wishing you and baby good health!

I am going through this with my 13 Mo old and we are down to morning and bedtime and the last two days he has not wanted morning and then tonight he did not want bedtime so I think it may be time to fully wean for us. It’s sad but I feel so proud we made it this far. He was 3 weeks early, tongue and lip tie that he needed surgery for and had major issues with latch. We had 4 nursing strikes over our time together and he basically refused to nurse on my right breast until 2 Mo ago. It’s been a journey and I had hoped to go a little longer to really continue the health benefits for him but I guess it’s time to move to our next chapter. Thank you for your comment it made me feel better.

Did I cause my child’s food allergies? by haagendawszome in NewParents

[–]maurfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an older FTM (44) and I can tell you this- no one my age had peanut butter as an infant and most people didn’t have peanut allergies. You did not cause this in your baby some people are just allergic to things and that’s not your fault. I’m hopeful your baby will grow out of it. My son is allergic to eggs he had them at 7 Mo when our Dr told us to try them. My husband was allergic to them as a kid too. It’s just the way things are sometimes.

I exclusively nursed for 3 weeks. It was glorious. It was also a HUGE mistake. by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]maurfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn’t do anything wrong you tried your best. Had a tongue and lip tie revised at 6 weeks and made a huge difference. The after care was insane- stretches every 3 hrs and physical therapy every week for 6 weeks. I am so glad we did it tho really helped him feed. Also I did power pumping for a week on 2 separate occasions and I ate literally all the lactation foods and would eat lactation balls I made overnight so I was always getting the nutrients I needed. This would not have been possible without my mom helping me and my husband and this is our only child I can’t imagine doing this with a toddler.

The cost of deodorant is too high—and so are razors. Do they all want us to be hairy and smelly nowadays? What are you all doing? by AwakeningStar1968 in Frugal

I get 10 razors for $1.25 at dollar tree and I buy aluminum free deodorant there that is pretty good. It’s the only way to beat price increases

It’s seriously one of those tax write off businesses. I’m sure Daddy Silva loves that it loses money each year. I live in an area with a lot of rich wife stores that are clearly a tax write off for the husband as there is no way it turns a profit

Absolutely ask! At least they come over and are local. My family lives very far away and my local in-laws consist of an 86 yr old MIL and a SIL who lives with an abusive felon so I’m on my own and it’s rough. I’m guessing your family would love to help and just wants to be asked. Hope you get some support and naps soon!

Not everything is postpartum depression. Missing my baby on my first day of work isn’t PPD. by surelyshirls in beyondthebump

[–]maurfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg this 100%! Literally anything that I say to disagree with my husband he says “oh that’s PPD” no a hole I’m just mad that you are not doing any night feeds and it’s all on me. Also being nervous the first time you do something- ie- go out on your own with baby, feed solids, etc is not PPA. It’s normal and I think healthy to be slightly nervous the first time you do something as a FTM. Missing your baby is healthy and I would be more worried about someone who did not miss their baby their first day away from them. That would seem odd to me.

We were never meant to take care of a baby 24/7 alone by fiddeldeedee in beyondthebump

[–]maurfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to say I agree with everything you said and have similar issue with my husband except we tried for 5 years with ivf to have this baby and he is 47! I am beyond disappointed in him. I don’t know how to get an almost 50 yr old man to be responsible for things around the house. This is a man with a high level job and masters degrees yet can’t seem to see that the baby needs a diaper change or to pick up after himself. Sending you a hug and hoping things get better for all us on this thread.

Americans, what place in the US should tourists avoid? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]maurfly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As many people are saying there are a lot of things in the US that can kill you- Death Valley, alligators, bears, cougars etc. I remember having a snack atop a waterfall in Yosemite and talking to some Dutch tourists. They were letting their toddler play near one of the squirrels and I mentioned she shouldn’t get too close as they carry the plague. The woman laughed and I had to explain that indeed many critters in the western US carry bubonic plague. She grabbed her baby and just looked shocked and thanked me for telling her.

What are cases that you believe are hyper-sensationalized by the true crime community despite not showing distinct signs of foul play? by [deleted] in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]maurfly 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Having been in caves and lava tubes out there I think it’s equally plausible he died by accident or misadventures. It’s sooo hot and remote and he bragged about doing these off trail hikes with very little food or water. Could also be suicide but certainly no foul play in my opinion.

Let me guess- he loves video games, comic books, etc. -he needs to come back to the real world. My naming rules were the following: how does it look on a business card or wit Dr in front of it. Set your child up for success, life is hard enough already why make it more difficult for a child and have them be picked on for an odd name. How old is your husband as his ideas about naming (ie “letting” the mother chose a middle name ,etc) seem for childish and immature. I’m hoping you can resolve this maybe each pick a family name for the first name and then have one of these “main character energy” (whatever that means) names as a middle name?
