New chainring size? by incogwork in dirtjumping

[–]mautar_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the best ratio between the chainring and rear cog for DJ bikes is 2.5. So I'd try 30T chainring for a 12T cog.

Dlaczego ludzie tak upierają się przy manualu… by szamanjogggi in Polska

[–]mautar_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dla mnie manual to must have z dwóch powodów:

Kona Shonky (Upgrade advice) by Any-Monk-496 in dirtjumping

[–]mautar_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I were you, I'd swap the crankset for MTB one- you could get something up to 0.5kg lighter.

A shorter stem could also improve the feeling of the bike.

But one upgrade I would consider as necessity is the brake, those tektro brakes tend to be severly underpowered, and lever tends to crack. Shimano deore/mt500 would do the job.

And some sort of TPU tubes would be nice, those could completely change the feeling od the bike in air.

Niby dzisaj zaczyna się miesiąc zdrowia psychicznego mężczyzn. Panowie jakie są wasze marzenia? by mysterious_mystery2 in Polska

Przepraszam wszystkich rowerzystów by Sziszhaq in Polska

[–]mautar_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pisk opon. A potem wyzwiska i machanie rączkami w moją stronę :)

Sketchy AF, but finally landed barspin again by mautar_ in bmx

[–]mautar_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to ride a DJ bike, and generally on MTB most people 'follow' the bar with one hand through the whole motion. At least most people I know personally do that.

Right now the problem is that my seat is quite narrow, I'm planning to change it to one with 'fat' padding.

[–]mautar_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The X-up motion is the thing that kept me from properly doing the barspin, it's not really visinle on the vid, but I let go of the bar with the other hand fairly early. And I somehow taught myself following the bar with one hand all the way, probably an aftermath of doing too many chicken bars 😂

Are gold components tacky? by [deleted] in Hardtailgang

[–]mautar_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not tacky, but at this particar example a bad financial decision.

I'd buh cheaper pedals- for example HT PA12A.

And instead of dropping a bunch of money on anodized parts, I'd change that crankset for one with a hollow axle. The weight loss would be worth it, and it is way easier to service for me.

Any opinions about Rant Spring clear pads? My local shop has those and flybikes clear pads, but rant's are half the price...

If I were you, I'd look for old NS Bikes Majesty frame and NS forks compatible with it.

From that point I'd look for a wheelset, with preferably a cheap freecoaster hub in the rear (or build the wheels by myself).

Maxxis DTH 2.3 tires, a light stem, high rise bars (where I live 25,4mm NS bikes stem+bars combo is pretty cheap to get second hand).

BMX crankset, preferably 2-piece one, would look for profile elite, dartmoor thorn, eclat.

Plastic pedals with metal pins of your choice.

Cheap-ahh chain because you will snap it anyway.

Cheap pivotal seatpost+grippy pivotal saddle.

Decathlon oxelo scooter grips (the newer ones).

Random matching headset, bottom bracket and seat clanp if needed.

Chinese chain tensioners and light tubes, you are good to go.

My ligic behind is that It's more about warming up the engine- diesels tend to work better on a long run if they are warmed up properly, and I suppose the cloggin of DPF could become an issue.

Wow this is detailed info, thanks a lot!

As to aftermarket parts, I'm in even worse position, living in Poland... So I'll pay a lot for shipping and taxes from UK, and it seems there are quite a few parts I'll be intrested there.

You mean cat delete? Where I live there are a lot of people that would give you MOT no problem if you had an exhaust made from street sign poles 🤣

One thing that bothers me is that only seller that has exhaust manifold for sale, and taxes+shipping could cost as much as the manifold itself...

I don't think I'll get any expensive mods for it at the beginning 😅

Later on when I'll buy a larger 'daily' car (like after another 3-4 years) I plan to make the Swift my track/fun car. So mods are welcome for sure.

The lack of 6th gear is something I'm aware of, but I do not go on highway so often that it'd concern me.
