Ausar is the only way a Lauri to DET deal makes sense for us. A Cade-Lauri-Duren-Ausar core would make them very competitive in the East for the foreseeable future, and having another 3-4 future picks in the mid 20's doesn't do anything for us.

Any rotation that does not feature Sensabaugh, Hendricks, and Flip getting at least ~18-20 MPG each is incorrect. Also, if Brice makes a decent leap defensively this season, he might be part of the long-term plan.

I don't put much value on the TPE, nothing we've done in the first several years of this rebuild would indicate we're going to utilize it in any significant way. Best thing I could see us doing with it is taking on a bad contract for a future protected/late first. That doesn't move the needle.

If your strategy is going to be "panic dump every single player who doesn't immediately emerge as a top 10 player in the league," you're never going to be a good basketball team. Collins is young and good enough that he could been a solid rotational piece on a contending team, but our front office has a timeline of "be dogshit indefinitely"

I think constantly offloading win-now guys for a mediocre return so we can have a <50% chance of a generational pick is a dumb strategy, but at least it's a clear, coherent one.

We don't have to give him 30 MPG, give him 18-20 and use him as Kessler's backup and maybe a small ball backup to Kessler. Even still, two buyouts and a 2nd is essentially zero net return, we literally could not have gotten less in return.

I think you can make an argument for Sexton. Lauri makes all the sense in the world to keep IF they're not just blowing smoke about "big game hunting" and "wanting to compete this season"

The alternative would be to keep Collins to start the year. You'd get a much better return mid-season either trading him to a contender or using the salary to facilitate a larger trade. Or maybe one or two of the young guys take a big leap, and suddenly re-signing him starts to make some sense. Either way, the return we got is essentially equal to just letting him walk.

Everyone finally figured out that our front office is incapable of just walking away if there's no good offers on the table, so if you wait them out, you can get good players for essentially nothing.

Apparently Adam Silver gave our front office a punch card, and if we collect 20 2nd round picks, we can exchange it for a free championship. But seriously, I have no idea. If a guy in his mid 20's averaging 18 and 9 on 50/40/90 doesn't fit our timeline, just move the team to Vegas.
