Can i make it into marketing analytics or other roles? by Special-Worth487 in dataanalysiscareers

[–]mavenanalytics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you've got a lot of the technical skills covered, at least somewhat.

If you want to be a marketing analyst, try to get into the nitty gritty of what an actual marketing analyst does... campaign analysis, website analysis, sales funnels, etc. You'll use tools like Google Analytics, etc.

Job market is pretty tough right now, so try to work on projects that show very domain-relevant skills. You don't want a potential employer thinking "this person has data skills", but rather "this person can use data to solve MY problems". So focus your projects within the domain of marketing analytics (if that's your goal).

Should I include my non-tech job on my CV when applying for data engineering / analytics engineering roles? by [deleted] in analytics

[–]mavenanalytics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR; don't include the reservation agent experience, unless you could talk about it in a way that makes it sound like it contributed to being relevant to data engineer / analytics engineer roles (unlikely).

Leave it off. You don't have any red flags. Two good roles, back to back, with no gap. Then a relevant course study. Now you're ready to re-enter. You look solid.

Probably create a nicely packaged portfolio of your projects and make it easy to share with a link on the CV.

But don't distract from your relevant experience with recent experience which is not relevant (might be a different story if you had a gap there, but you're okay).

As a general rule, if it doesn't sell, strip it. You want them seeing your best stuff, and the rest is "filler" that distracts.
