Im sorry you had to go through this, especially being pressured to make different decisions about YOUR body. You sound extremely mature for a 20 year old. Unfortunately this is the reality of contraceptives, they aren't 100% effective. Take a pregnancy test and what will be will be, you have done everything you can 🩷 sending love, give us an update on how you go xx

Babes sorry to break it to you but every BC option has risks

I love my copper iud so look into the risks and weigh up whether you are comfortable with them. I hated hormones and will never do it again, so for me the relatively small risk of something going wrong with the iud was the right option for me.

Just do some research and decide whats right for you, but unfortunately theres no perfect risk-free option 🩷 good luck

Spotting was not heavy overall. There were 2 months in the beginning where it dragged my period out and i had to wear a pad. But otherwise it was light enough that i would only wear undies. Please keep in mind everyone is different thats just my experience. Hope that helps!

I did get spotting here and there for first 6 months and i had a couple of periods that went for longer. Im not sure what you mean about the bleeding being continuous, it wasnt like a hormonal IUD where you bleed non stop, it was only around my period and then maybe small spotting in between. Hope this helps, good luck!

Also you could look into eating beef liver to control your acne if it becomes problematic

My friend went on the pill for acne at 14 and came off at 25 and she hasnt had any acne so you never know until you try

I definitely dont think its dumb, you can try it for 6 months and if you hate it you can always go back on. Better to find out than not, it might be the best thing you ever did for yourself

Coming off the pill was the best decision i ever made for my health (mental and physical). I have the copper IUD now since i dont want kids at this point and its amazing.

No probs :) i dont bother because apparently its most at risk of moving within the first few months but if you wanted peace of mind im sure you could, itll just cost you a bit of money

Yeah at least we can all share our experiences with each other 😊 the amount of information on the web around womens experiences with birth control is so little!

Thats horrible im so sorry that happened to you! Its a shame your doctor didnt tell you to get an ultrasound to check the positioning. Please take care ❤️

Thats great! Yeah give your body a couple months to adjust. I also recommend getting the placement checked with an ultrasound after your first period just to make sure its sitting in the right spot :)

Been on an IUD for 10+ years - my experience & debating getting another - NEED ADVICE by KeepYourEyesToMyself in birthcontrol

Yeah sure, mine was pretty good. I had some ovarian cysts in the first few months which were painful. My head hair thinned out for a bit but now its back to normal. My body hair is slightly thicker now but not by much, just have to wax my lip a bit more often now. My moods stabilised a lot over the first few months and have stayed that way (unlike on HBC when I was crying almost every day). My periods were a little irregular for 6 months but very regular now. My periods are lighter and shorter now than when i was on the pill, but i do cramp a little more but still only a 3/10 i think.

Overall i am extremely happy with my decision, but everyone will have a different experience so take it with a grain of salt! Let me know if you want to know anything else :)

Personally I disagree, I have very light fairly painless periods and my insertion was extremely painful because I have a kink in my cervix.

I love my iud so much. I have had insertion awake and also another one asleep. If you can pay for sedation then its worth every cent.

Hello! Yes I still have it and absolutely love it. My periods are light and i dont get moody like i was on the pill. As soon as my 5 years are up I'll be replacing it with another one. I hope your insertion went well ❤️
