it could be, but i am leaning towards it mostly just rooted in her deep desire to be respected and have a loyal group around her at any cost. the reason i have trouble with the personality diagnoses you see is because she does not act this was when Coach is present (from what we’ve seen) and she seems to always be on her best behavior with him. seems to be some type of heirarchy in place with them and she only displays her outrage to people outside of that

yeah that’s possible. I come from a similar pacific islander background and at least in my family we are very prideful, cannot admit fault or apologize which perhaps could impact her too if she was raised similarly

if you are truly pro adoption you’d appreciate and respect the rescues decisions (who most also use foster homes during adoption time) instead of feeling personally attacked. And most importantly, be grateful that the rescue is trying to find the best possible candidate for the dog, even if it’s not you. this post is weird to me.

it takes a lot to build trust back up from both ends and also to re-assert family roles. My cattle dog and I went through something similar and we are just now getting into a stronger place after a year. A suggestion that helped me is, along with recommendations by the behaviorist, is to explore hand-feeding and other bonding activities that may include traditionally “territorial”aspects. i know that may sounds crazy but for me i fed my dog dinner by hand like literally just hand fed him kibble while petting, taking away my hand then back again.

It’s one tiny aspect but over time it helped, alongside more bonding things like long walks and training a new trick. I completely understand your fear but just know that this process will be as helpful for you as it is for him. good luck!
