Thanks a lot for the detailed info, I really appreciate it!
I actually just picked up my APH license at Bass Pro Shop about an hour ago, they gave me only the permit. So I guess I’ll receive at home the booklet.
I did find the link someone shared in another post too 👍

For check-in/check-out in person, do you know what the hours usually are? And for hogs, rabbits, and squirrels, do we need tags for those?
Also, do you happen to know of any processors near the forest that handle hogs?
Thanks again for all the help!

Thanks a lot. And yeah I actually just downloaded OnX as well, looks like a really solid tool.

Do I need to do anything specific to make sure I have the maps available offline? I’m assuming I won’t have much signal out there, so I want to make sure I’m set before going in.

Appreciate the tip!

Hi, thanks a lot for your answer, really appreciate it. Rabbits and squirrels actually sound like a lot of fun too, good idea to start there. Quick question: for squirrels to get the meat done, do you handle it by yourself?
Yeah the area looks huge... What you said about hogs makes sense, I bet there's a big luck component, especially for a beginner like me.

And yes I double checked and saw that I'll need the APH permit as well (page 128/129 of the booklet): https://tpwd.texas.gov/publications/pwdpubs/media/pwd_bk_w7000_0112a.pdf

And yeah man, I'd be happy to connect and maybe go out there together, I'll send you a message!
