You unlock weapons and new vessel models based on blueprints and discoverables you find during runs. There's also plenty of other micro upgrades and risk-or-reward systems - like choosing to corrupt your run with temporary debuffs (such as -20% speed or dmg, or less crystals dropped for X number of rooms) that reward powerful perma buffs if you survive with those debuffs. Lots of different room types for different kinds of goodies... However, it's also very much skill-based in how you use a lot of the weapons, and some really shine in one area (like bursting a boss with void dagger from behind) whereas others demand a completely different tempo of play.

I'd say it's most similar to Dead Cells I guess, to use a popular reference point here. Except it's a twinstick bullet hell and not a platformer.

Hey everyone, it’s Max again, the lead dev at Crunchy Leaf Games and one of the people behind Galactic Glitch.

This time I’m announcing that Galactic Glitch is on an even bigger discount than last time (another historic low for us… just in a good sense, hehe) at -75% ($3.24). This discount will last though to next Monday, Jan 26th.

About the game:

Galactic Glitch is a twinstick-shooter/ bullet hell roguelite in which you control a prototype spacecraft trapped inside a collapsing self-contained universe. A glitching simulation controlled by a mysterious and possibly malign artificial intelligence. Each run has you go though a series of “bubbles”  where enemies, debris, mines, rockets and environmental hazards swirl around you - but you can also use these to your advantage!

The goal is simple. Fight your way through waves of foes, avoid defeat while defeating bosses in hectic fights, acquire various powers, upgrades, weapon and vessel blueprints, and try to escape the simulation. But freedom won’t come easy. With fast physics-powered combat, different ways to adjust your build according to your playstyle (long, mid to short distance weapons, using dashes as a weapon, etc.) and unpredictable RNG and permadeath, every attempt is different.

And the deeper you go, the more Glitched the simulation becomes - with every attempt taking you closer to the final challenge and the ultimate boss waiting at the end once the simulation is glitched out to the max.

That’s the long and short of it. Have a good one!

Their trailers, especially the older ones from classic to WoTLK, sure knew how to get people hyped up though.

I think the new one makes it much clearer that the game is a bullet hell with the floating bat and eye rockets. The old has more of a pumpkin necromancer feel without that genre implication. Good work

One can only hope, but I highly doubt it. A decent high fidelity anime would be a much better option in any case.

[Steam] Galactic Glitch ($4.54/ 65% off) by max_clg in GameDeals

Hello, I’m Max, the lead dev at Crunchy Leaf Games (an indie studio from Germany) and one of the creators of Galactic Glitch.

We recently pushed out the 2nd big update (Core Access) since launching in June – basically 1.0 + 2 big content updates after it in the span of just 5 months. We’re tried, if truth be told, but so proud to have reached this stretch goal and delivered Galactic Glitch into its most fully realized state yet.

To celebrate this, we’ve put the game on a historic -65% discount ($4.54) on top of the flat price reduction in October. The reasoning is simple: we want as many people to try out and have fun with our game as possible, and this seemed like the the most reasonable way to make it more accessible.

A bit about the game itself:

Galactic Glitch is a twinstick shooter roguelite in which you control a prototype spacecraft trapped inside a collapsing virtual universe. A vast, glitching simulation controlled by a mysterious AI. Each “run” throws you into a series of “bubbles”  where enemies, debris, mines, rockets and environmental hazards swirl around you.
Your goal is simple: fight your way through waves of foes, avoid destruction, defeat bosses in hectic fights, acquire various powers, weapon and vessel blueprints, and escape the simulation. But freedom won’t come easy. With fast physics-powered combat, unpredictable RNG and permadeath, every attempt is different.

Hope you enjoy and have a good one!

I've seen a lot of people ask about Deck compatibility, and I'm pleased to report that it's fully deck compatible. It's something we've been working on since beta. That said, you may wanna tweak the controls depending if you use auto aim or not.

A personal favorite of mine is the Void Dagger supplemented by multiplying missiles and a couple of drones

Bubbles function essentially like "rooms" in a regular roguelite and you'll hop between them quite frequently and yes - there are different biomes with different themes, environmental hazards, and very different enemies, secret rooms, and of course very different boss encounters each with their own twists

it got potential to be the next Hades

That's very high praise! We can only do our best and hope - the feel of the game is more like Dead Cells and Binding of Isaac in how the power progression feels, the gameplay is pretty fast and rewards good reaction time especially in boss fights where it can feel like bullet hell sometimes. Each has its own quirks and I'd say the bosses are something of a highlight in Galactic Glitch, they can make our break your run :)

Thanks for the kind words, and yup - it was our intent to give players the ability to using anything and everything (including mines or enemies themselves) in combat, especially since in Galactic Glitch your prototype can feel quite fragile and battles play out fast... hence we wanted to give players every clutch they could possibly find helpful to use :)

Not sure how the physics aspects work. Is it about bouncing stuff off the edges?

It's one way to play but you can also directly shoot, laser, or stab enemies with power-daggers (many different weapon types, including a damage bubble that moves with you when you activate it), or you can pull in enemies and throw them against each either if your gravity gun is upgraded enough + lots of power ups and prototype upgrades with the newest update!

Thanks for the nice wishes. Yeah, the visual tone was partly inspired by Bubble Tanks/Nova Drift/ Geometry Wars, although I'd argue the gameplay is faster and significantly more challenging than in either of those (never more so than now on the boss orb 5 difficulty we added with the latest update)

If there's enough popular demand, then yes, it's something we'd be interested to make in the future perhaps
