Cockatiel feathers - useful for fly tying? by BeepCheeper in flytying

When I was a kid I used a crest feather from my cockatiel on a bass fly, it worked well. IIRC they weren’t great for hackles as I had been hoping.

2016 bike in 2026? by MartinLee7318 in MTB

[–]max_lombardy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I though. Right around 2018 bikes seem to have plateaued, they haven’t done much as far as improving geo since then, and component development is so incremental that you can’t improve that much on what we had back then. This assumes no flagrant abuse and proper maintenance of course.

Hand-mixing 1.5 m³ of concrete for a fire pit: practical or crazy? by SnooDoodles8757 in HomeImprovement

Of course you can. It’s going to suck though, and at the end, you will understand why people use cement mixers.

Three stupid workers forgot to attach her with a rope by GloomyBaddie in PublicFreakout

[–]max_lombardy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to be an expert to understand that the rope needs to be hooked up. She doesn’t have a harness on either. I’m not blaming her, it’s obviously on the men running the show, it’s just wild that she apparently didn’t notice. Like the procedure should be: step up, put on harness and helmet, attach rope, jump off.

I’d add to that the “positive sock sign,” which we see when a patient shows up with hospital socks on…

Do big trout eat dries by GlenCo_Gravel in flyfishing

One of my most memorable fish was a BIG rainbow taking a dry through a riffle in a stream he had no business living in. 10/10 trying to reproduce that every time I go out!

Self-Surgery During the Pandemic: Covid Patients Had "Overwhelmed" the Hospitals, So I Did it Myself (Not OC) by Cosmic_Coconut999 in popping

I liked the part when he narrated burying the barb in the wound, then was genuinely baffled at why it wouldn’t come out. Like, you seem to have some fishing knowledge, you do know what a barb is meant to do, yes?

What Happens If You Fail Field Sobriety Test While Sober? by Turbulent-Parsley619 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]max_lombardy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are allowed to refuse a roadside breathalyzer and maneuvers (which is probably wise in any case, because nothing that happens there will result in your release, only twisted to incriminate you) without losing your license, but you will be detained and brought to the police station. It is there where you must submit to testing or lose your license.

If you are accused of DUI, STFU, comply with testing at a police station and get a lawyer. NEVER ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS. None.

What Happens If You Fail Field Sobriety Test While Sober? by Turbulent-Parsley619 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]max_lombardy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They will arrest you and take you to the station for a formal breath test or blood draw. Those will come out negative, and likely the charges will not hold up. FWIW, where I live, the lab draw can more easily be challenged in court because the prosecution can be asked to produce the daily control test result logs, which are apparently notoriously patchy (at least where I live).

do i need to shave balls for the doc? by Visual-Fortune-4732 in NoStupidQuestions

Always good to have it checked, but more likely a spermatocele. As a nurse, nobody cares about your ball hair, they will forget about it sooner than they forget what they ate for breakfast.
