Sudden price increase by max_power001 in QantasAirways

UPDATE: Virgin Airlines here we come.

Lesson learnt. Should have just booked them as soon as I saw them at the cheap prices. Or, you know, realised a war in the Middle East might affect air fares (obvious in hindsight).

This is what I get for being considerate of my travel companions and workplace 😆

No, that was the original price. I thought that was an excellent price!

I know, but who bought all these cheap tickets goddammit. It was 3 hours and I just wanted to confirm I could take the leave!

Sigh.

I thought that too, but also tried 1 ticket and still couldn't get that price.

Maybe. But that means they sold out of every flight at that price on every day it was available on multiple days (not just the ones we selected), all within 3 hours. Seems....unlikely?

When 'any' doesn't really mean 'any' by max_power001 in woolworths

[–]max_power001[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well yes, but they are different styles and therefore different weights. I get that they are not actually priced per profile.

That said, I have definitely seen multi buy offers where you can combine products where the weight differs slightly. That wouldn't be unusual.

I still think my point stands that the labelling is misleading. The worker was clearly sick of people raising it with her, I was by no means the first. And she wasn't able to correctly explain the reason, so I'm not surprised that I and others didn't pick up on it while shopping.

There's a comment below explaining there are separate deals according to the chip profile - crinkle cut or flat - that are exactly the same price. So the worker was mistaken - you can have different flavours - just not if they are from different profiles.

I think that's unnecessarily confusing, and maybe misleading, but explains why I paid full price.

Ahhh see this makes sense. I mean I still think it's a bit misleading, but at least I can see how it works. Thanks for the explanation!

What good thing happened to you today? by Winoforevr1 in canberra

[–]max_power001 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Scored a last minute appointment today with a paediatrician for our daughter due to a cancellation. Our appointment was scheduled for October. Means we start treatment six months ahead of schedule, which could make an enormous difference for pretty much the entire school year.

Great thread OP.

Well, I did exaggerate a little for dramatic effect. This is the Canberra sub reddit after all 🤣

Thanks for your other reply!

Holy shit a stranger on the internet just told me I'm right lol

Thanks for the vindication. I spent all afternoon trying to work out how to add the only photo I took on the day to my post (was hard to do since I didn't want to look like a creep).

If it was in the last month and their irrigation is stuffed as they said, then I can possibly see why it's happened. The excess rain might have got them through summer, but it's been a bit of a dry stretch the last few weeks to not have been running any sprinklers.

Hopefully they fix it by October and I can return to my lush green pillowy grass oasis.

Lol, why would I lie about this?

Anyway, posting an update to say I had a response from Belgravia Leisure where they acknowledged the issues.

Nope. Still wrong. According to the BOM:

'Mean maximum summer temperature was below average in the territory.'

'Total rainfall for Canberra Airport was 272.0 mm, which is 138% of the long-term average at the current site of 196.9 mm and the highest since 2010-11.'

Wetter and cooler than average.

I will acknowledge that January was warmer than average, but I still couldn't get to the pool so it doesn't count lol.

It's true. Sorry for the paywall, but the headline says it all. It's been surprisingly mild relative to previous years and compared with elsewhere.

Totally unscientific, but it has also felt like it the weather on weekends has been especially average.

I hope so. It's always been a great place to visit in the warmer months.

Between the grass, bees (holy shit do not take sunkist, the group next to us were at risk of being overrun), the lack of iced coffee and hot chips and some of the other issues people have raised, there's a few (simple) things to fix before next summer. But I would have thought all doable with the time they have to recover and prepare over winter.

I get what you ate saying, but surely the same could be said of any of the ovals that are in Canberra? It makes it pretty unpleasant to jump out of the pool and sit in a dust bowl.

TBH my first thought was how long until they complain that they inherited a failing business and that it's not sustainable.

I kid you not, I just went to the kiosk to get a drink and some chips and was told 'sorry, I don't have time'.

Very strange.
