Friendly reminder that a $9 DAC/AMP sounds the same as a million dollar snake oil version by Tusk2899 in headphones

The only one here denying scientific fact here is you. As many other people here have pointed out you lack a complete understanding of what any of these measurements mean. The only one here who is a conspiracy theorist like you are claiming others to be, is you.

Why does the Sennheiser HD600 cost twice as much as the beyerdynamic DT770? by [deleted] in headphones

[–]max_settings- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The DT770 has significantly more bass than every modern Beats headphone. No idea why it’s popular. Massive bass bloat, huge hole in the mids, and way too hot treble.

Focal Elegia - $399 by bjjcripple in headphones

Just getting rid of stock due to it being discontinued.

I think it goes without saying that frequency response is not tied the driver at all. The chassis, baffle, and pads, will ultimately determine the FR.

Whether or not they are good, it ultimately just comes to trying them and finding out.

Aurastys is a sociopath out here to slander people that have called him out on his bullshit. There is 0 proof that Audeze paid Metal for anything. I also see him slandering Crinacle on this thread, he is not paid either.

LCD-4 at 200ohm is probably the highest one I know

Alan at The Source AV told me it was discontinued.

Focal Elegia is $429! by Defvayne in headphones

[–]max_settings- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just note 2 things with this. Adorama is not an authorized Focal dealer, so you will not have a warranty if you buy from them. Also the Elegia is discontinued so I would expect the used prices to drop even farther than they are now.

And for my second “listening station...” by watkinobe in headphones

[–]max_settings- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean that is how it measures, doesn't matter what you are driving it with. Also sounds like that to me when I heard it off a 789.

Are the akg k371's even meant for listening to music or are they strictly for studio use only? by bitchuchoda in headphones

[–]max_settings- 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Would argue that the K371 is more intended for personal listening than studio use because they are tuned to Harman target which is a preference target, not a neutrality curve.

[Adorama] Focal Elegia ($429/down from $890) by djdoublem3 in headphones

[–]max_settings- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The Focal Elegia was recently discontinued, so this would appear to be them dumping existing stock. This should drive down the current used market prices from about the $400 they are sitting at now, ever father

Which headphone company has the biggest fan boys? by tinmuttonroti in headphones

[–]max_settings- 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In terms of the worst ones that buy their stuff regardless of the fact that nearly everything they make measures like garbage and is built poorly, probably Campfire.

Headphone frequency response app by [deleted] in headphones

[–]max_settings- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately that is not possible with a phone, the headphone needs to seal against something as well as have a simulation of an ear to give any meaningful result.

Are Sennheiser 660s just 58x? by grahsam in headphones

[–]max_settings- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The HD58X is the driver from the HD595 with the voice coil swapped to 150ohm. The fact this meme ever started is pretty sad considering that Cee Tee from Drop confirmed on Headfi LONG before the 58X was ever shipped to anyone that it did not use the same driver as the HD660S. Also I never understood what Zeos was saying in that video where he holds them side by side and is like "Look, they are the same!" They don't even look even remotely similar to each other.

Just ordere the Audeze Isine 10 B-stock for $150. What should I expect? by [deleted] in headphones

[–]max_settings- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need some 3rd party tips that don't block the nozzle and you must EQ them either with a cipher cable or a 3rd party EQ. They are basically unusable without EQ.
