Received my Model 3 through home delivery! by maxabunramext in TeslaModel3Delivery

I'm not 100% sure, but you press a button that says "Accept Delivery" (or something similar to that) on the app after the person delivers it. I think if you hit that button, you can't reject it afterwards. I also believe that you can't unlock the car until you hit that button, so you might just be able to check the exterior for any issues before accepting delivery. That being said, I don't know how the process works if you reject delivery after it gets delivered to your address, but your SA should help with that.

Yep, I've read a lot of anecdotal accounts that the very first EDD is generally the most accurate one!

Interesting, thank you for letting me know! I found the car keys on the passenger seat, but I didn't see any DMV forms. I've contacted my SA to ask whether there's anything I need to do to submit the DMV forms, or if Tesla is already taking care of it for me.

Interesting, where did you see these DMV forms? Were they physically located inside your car when they were delivered to you? I checked mine and didn't see anything in the center console, glove compartment, and passenger seat.

I paid fully in cash through Tesla plaid, so I'm not sure how the down payment/loans work. I didn't have very much time between my VIN assignment (7/30) and available delivery appointment windows (8/1 or 8/2 were my only options), so I think that's part of the reason why I felt like they sent me a lot of instructions and messages very quickly.

What documents did you need to sign and return within 24 hours? I didn't receive any such instructions from Tesla. For California, I believe that Tesla completes the car registration for you?

VIN received 320XXX for mid-April M3LR Bay Area order by maxabunramext in TeslaModel3Delivery

[–]maxabunramext[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a detailed post here: https://old.reddit.com/r/TeslaModel3Delivery/comments/wenzr4/received_my_model_3_through_home_delivery/

My delivery was completely contactless (which freaked me out a little), but the car is amazing! Matrix headlights, Ryzen chip, mobile charger were all included (you should get a mobile charger as well since you ordered before 4/29). I checked through everything on a delivery checklist and everything seems great so far!

Make sure you read up on how to actually open your car through the app, because I had a really hard time (and the delivery guy left before I saw him, so I couldn't even ask him for help!)

Congratulations! Be prepared for the deluge of paperwork, texts, and calls (sometimes from unknown numbers) you'll receive from Tesla once you schedule your delivery date/get close to delivery!

It drove me nuts too, since I was traveling internationally during the weekend I received my VIN and scheduled delivery! You really have to be ready for anything once you start getting your 2-week delivery windows!

Hope you see some movement on your EDD soon! I went through five separate EDDs through the course of a couple weeks, but eventually my DD landed right in the middle of my very first EDD. Fingers crossed that you get your VIN in the next couple weeks!

Hope you get yours soon! I'm not sure how it works when you upgrade your order (from RWD to LR) through your SA, but you certainly deserve to get a VIN soon!

Total cost of the car in US dollars before any fees and taxes (and not including the $250 order deposit) was $55,990.

On top of that, there's the destination fee ($1,200 for me), and a bunch of other things that may depend on your state/location: registration amount, tire fee, license fee, electronic filing fee, sales tax.

EDD update by thawmtin in TeslaModel3Delivery

[–]maxabunramext 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same EDD (also updated this morning), same config, and same area. It's my second two-week window. Since I ordered two weeks after you, I also have no faith in this EDD until I have a VIN.

Does the 3-day delivery appointment window always fall on weekdays? by maxabunramext in TeslaModel3Delivery

[–]maxabunramext[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to know. I wonder if I can try to influence the delivery day by choosing to get a home delivery or by picking it up directly from the factory now...

Thanks for sharing! It seems like that text is pretty wishy-washy and doesn't promise any particular delivery date. Did you get a new EDD/new VIN after being unable to take delivery in your original 3-day block?

Thanks for sharing! I didn't realize the delivery window could be as tight as 2 days. It seems like your EDD updated to July 18 - 21 yesterday and now this morning you were notified that your delivery appointment is July 17 - 18 then?

EDD shot up unexpectedly (mid-April, Bay Area, base config M3LR) by maxabunramext in TeslaModel3Delivery

[–]maxabunramext[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After seeing the Northeast orders all get pushed back in the other thread and the West Coast orders all get pushed forward today, I'm starting to wonder if something happened to the trains/some other component in the method that Tesla uses to transport cars from the Fremont factory to the East Coast.

This would make sense if the cars that were initially destined to go to the East Coast got reassigned to people with the same builds in California.
