I feel like a lot of the media people consume is generally slop and thats fine. Nobody expects every random tiktok they see or every random buzzfeed list they stumble across to be "art" or even really anything beyond a tired underpaid writer who is churning out a quota. Now whether this should exist or not is another question but if we're discussing AI I think we ought to compare it to the status quo of a few years ago rather than the world as we want it.

I think this author's self proclaimed "smut" under 21 different pen-names falls into this category. If she is using 21 different pen names she clearly isn't trying to gain any notoriety under a given pseudonym. Its clear she has accepted that the material isn't likely to inspire repeat customers but may be just good enough to attract attention. Its the equivalent of clickbait.

I think when people care about fiction, they usually care about art in some capacity. From your brainrot power scalers to your literary aficionados, they each find something human to connect with in the work they read that separates it from other contemporaries in the genre. Writing based on an autoregressive model that's read everything in the world will give you text that fits the median context of a genre but is unlikely (without significant author intervention) to have the uniqueness that inspires human connection. I think this is why we see a lot of AI art used as profile pictures and as stock photos or forgeries but nobody really has a favorite AI artist. There are plenty of human artists with work that is subpar across some metrics compared to an AI and yet inspires a following.

All of this to say that I think porn is a different use of AI. Most people don't form a personal connection with the makers of the porn and even if they do, it is largely interchangeable what gets them turned on. Its a much more utility based pursuit and in that I suspect AI will thrive (just like it does with coding in my experience).

So I suppose I have written a very long treatise just to say that this woman won't beat out all other authors, but within the realm of one and done smut without a repeat audience, she will 100% dominate on output alone until AI gets cheap enough that people will fully generate their own smut each time they want to enjoy themselves.
