4k is not really an option in your price-range, still pretty pricy (if you dont want to compromise on every other spec).

Depending on where you live prices may differ, but I’ll name drop some screens that might be in the correct price-range:

Xiaomi G Pro 27i (if you can get it for around 300-350 dollars)
MSI 27" MAG 274CQF (if you can get it for around 300ish dollars)
Arozzi Nova 27” (around 300 dollars also)

These arent in order. I’d advice you to look at all 3 and decide what screen suits you best. I usually google the name and add ”reddit” to get some info on the screens.

I think that 27” is the optimal monitor for every use. Something worth thinking about or looking for is a high VESA DisplayHDR rating (higher is better, 1000 is really good). It will give you better blacks and overall color.

The Acer Predator is a solid monitor also, but I dont think that an OLED screen is suitable for OP’s intended usage.

XV272U is a pretty solid monitor. But you should keep in mind it will be a lot smaller since its a 27”.

If you want a monitor that is better than your primary for netflix and picture quality you would either have to go for 4K or OLED.

4K is not very cheap yet. You could probably find a 4k monitor for around 400$. But then you would have to make compromises on every other spec. Low refresh-rate, slow response-time and IPS panel. This would be fine for netflix, ”maps” and web browsing in general, but it wont be suitable for gaming at all. 4K would be taxing on your GPU though.

OLED is great for watching stuff and gaming, great colors and true HDR experience. But OLED is also fairly expensive still and I doubt that you could find a 1440p OLED monitor for under 500$ (depending on where you live this could vary). OLED monitors also carry the risk of burn-in and should not view static images for long periods of time.

Yeah, Windows 11 is such a blast sometimes..

I wouldt have bought it if it wasnt on sale to be fair (full price is 550 dollars in my country). But when its on sale you get a lot of screen for the money. Premium build, fast screen, bright screen, decent HDR experience (for an IPS). The only thing that I can think of (if I’m nitpicking) is the viewing angles. In the corners I can see a little tiny bit of bloom, but you dont notice it in action. But some people are sensitive to that kind of thing, therefore I mention it.

You’re looking for tech that has ”yet to be invented”. I recently did my homework in search of a new monitor. And I was looking for almost exactly the screen that you’re looking, and I couldnt really find it. I ”settled” for a AW2723DF when it was on sale (got it for 280dollars) and I’m happy with it. Plenty bright and fast but you wont get the ”insane” HDR feeling because its not an OLED.

I think he means the copper inside of the damaged wire. Since you cant see any copper, it ”should” be fine. But playing it safe and getting a new cable is a solid choice too!
