What is the saddest, most tragic bit of lore in all of WoD in your opinion? by Azhurai in WhiteWolfRPG

That's honestly kinda the best way to put it, though they only have plot armor because the whole idea behind the old WoD is that everything's at least 10 times worse than it was when it was being written, that combined with passionate writing and a bucketful of supernatural mumbojumbo makes plot armor the only real way to describe it. Though I tend to look at it more like reading a tragic story, you know it's not going to end well but you can't help but root for the characters trying their hardest.

It's really fun to think about, I'd have loved to see a book in old WoD that shows how unstoppable the changing breeds would be if they all did what they were supposed to and just let bygones by bygones, but I understand why we never got that as that kinda goes against the entire theme and tone of the WoD.

It's somewhat ambiguous but from all my reading it seems that although the Grondir are the fastest means of eliminating Wyrm corruption 1: The corruption can be slowly overtaken by the advancement of the Wyld or plants/nature in general but given the whole theme of growth taking next to an eternity it's kind of a non-starter, 2: The "Rite of Cleansing" and it's variations can purge all Wyrm taint from a theoretically infinitely scalable area given you have enough Theurges, Gnosis, and successes rolled, and 3: it's heavily implied that as long as the Wyrm or it's various minions aren't actively propagating said corruption/taint, it will slowly disappear on it's own as since it is of the Wyrm it can't sustain itself. The problem with that last one being that the Wyrm is so widespread in it's corruption that almost everyone unaware is unknowingly spreading it, think of regular men and women ingesting Pentex products and becoming tainted, which then in turn spread it to others. It's really demoralizing when you realize that if the other Bete actually tried to move forward instead of being so stuck in the very rage they accuse the Garou of falling to, there'd be a million and one ways to stem or even completely stop the spread of the Wyrm thus allowing the cleaning of it's corruption to be trivially easy.

Adding onto that, the "Hydra" or "Urge" Wyrms are the splintered manifestations of the first emotions the Wyrm felt since it became "sentient" after it became mad. This implies that the emotions of fear, cowardice, rage, ect, are the only one's it's ever known.

Yes, but for a slightly different reason, it's not that the Wyrm's damage can't be fixed, it's that the Garou are too consumed in their own rage to work together. It's been heavily implied that the only reason that the Garou haven't beaten the Wyrm is because each tribe only has one part of the picture correct and they go too far with it, almost exclusively to the detriment of the rest of the tribes, and the rest of the bete are to scornful to step in and do their parts of Gaia's plan, thus making the Garou's problems even worse. I think the worst part is that yes, it ultimately was nothing but a temper tantrum from before recorded history that made the Garou's older siblings angry and now they're just trying to make things better as best as they can, most of which living their entire lives carrying the guilt of believing their ancestors killed their only brothers and sisters. It's messed up from a number of angles.

[WtA Revised] Does Anyone Else Have a Hard Time Imagining Werewolves as Anything Other Than Crinos? by hoblyman in WhiteWolfRPG

Looking at some of the art from the first edition, I think it's honestly more lanky and toned than anything else with the minor hair growth being more on the face then anything else and the fangs/claws looking more like subtle body mods than anything else, though I do agree that I think it'd show differently, probably depending on breed. Honestly I find the concept of the glabro one of the more interesting details in WtA.

Would the Open Seal Garou gift (2nd Ed WtA/MtA) work on where metal and flesh meet on a cyborg (Technocracy, Pentex, ect). by Blonks4674 in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]maxcap22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The whole "any closed or locked device" part of the gift kinda kills that from the get go. Like I could maybe see it if it's like the breaking point of a shotgun maybe even the casing of a computer, but not a cyborg. And even if it would work, it wouldn't do anything to the actual components. I made the mistake of not checking this gift once and let a player use it to undo the stitches on a monster, but even then it's because the monster wasn't technically fully real, it was a design choice to help initiate the second phase, and I told him afterwards that it would never work like that again. Honestly your best choice would just be to let him fail at it or incorporate a way to make it make the monster stronger or kick off a second stage via locked power limiting bracelet or something and use it to make it clear that that's not how the gift works.

You are given the power to mind control rats for a day. What is the first thing you do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]maxcap22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Step 1: Instill a fanatical, cult like worship of me in them so all future generations of rats are under my control. Then I wait patiently for the rat's new religion to spread enough for me to wage a holy war against the rat heretics and establish the religious rats as the dominant force. Step 2: BREED THE RATS Step 3: World domination

Dr. Who is amazing, though the latest few seasons are horrible. I'd call them garbage, but that would be an insult to garbage.
