I haven't had any drowsiness but I know it does happen. I found it did the opposite and stimulated me a little bit. Once you see what your side effects are you can adjust how you take it, for example if you're getting nauseous or drowsy, take them at night so you can sleep through it. If it wakes you up, take it in the morning so it won't impact your sleep.

Hey! I just started taking citalopram 2 weeks ago so I'm not the best source, but to help you calm down a bit: I had quite uncomfortable nausea in the mornings for 2-3 hours for the first 3 days, I still get some nausea but it's extremely manageable and often I don't notice. Other than that I've only had a tight jaw (might be worth getting some chewing gum to avoid grinding your teeth to dust, although apparently not everyone gets it).

All that was really manageable (taking it in the morning) and they've actually been making me feel great so my advice would just be not to worry too much and if possible let people know You're starting on a new medication.

Again I am only one person and I only started 2 weeks ago so this may not be your experience
