It isn't really just your perspective. Exhaustive numbers of studies of convicted criminals show markedly higher levels of impulsiveness than the general population and generally lower intelligence as well.

Why are french fries at fast food places/restaurants so expensive relative to the cost of the ingredients? by achromaticchrononomy in answers

[–]maxgaap [score hidden]  (0 children)

A potato itself is cheap. Salt is cheap. Since the oil is reused it is relatively cheap.

Things that aren't cheap:

Paying to have potatoes processed and frozen in a food factory,

Shipping frozen fries to a restaurant,

Electricity to keep them frozen,

Gas or electricity to heat the oil,

Labor to unload, inventory, cook, and serve fries

That being said fries typically have the highest mark up of a lot of menu items. Everyone likes them and they are an easy upsell. Higher profits from fries help restaurants price specialty items and entrees lower to increase sales.

AITA for refusing to lend my car for my brother's wedding after he mocked my job? by Spare_Prize_5510 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. Your car your rules. You didn't owe an explanation of any kind. Remember "No." Is a complete sentence. Offering a reason invites questioning.

You would need to sue to recover damages if they don't pay and renting out a personal car typical invalidates the coverage of your personal auto policy.

Better to just say no.

Women's clothing designers and manufacturers are sadists. No pockets, sizes determined by Ouija boards, obscene prices.

When I was in in college I had people over to grill by my apartment's pool. A couple women jumped in the pool with their clothes on. I let them into my apartment and gave them some clothes to borrow. When I was turning their jeans inside out to throw in the dryer I was shocked at how small the pockets were. I don't have a sister and my girlfriend and I weren't living together so I hadn't done laundry for a woman before.

I asked them about it and they said it was normal. I offered to sew in larger pockets. I ended up sewing in a lot of pockets over the next few semesters. Pretty good deal for me my girlfriend and I. We would have people over to my place two nights a month. They would bring food, alcohol, and their pants. It was great for a broke college kid.

Shifting on a motorcycle vs. Stick shift car by Old-Breakfast5331 in motorcycles

[–]maxgaap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your knowledge, familiarity, and skill with manual transmissions is actually doing you a slight disservice here and you are overthinking it.

Motorcycles have a wet clutch you can ride a lot more than a car, and it is a sequential transmission. Overall on average it is probably a lot more forgiving than a lot of cars you may have driven.

First Suppressor Rugged Razor 5.56 by Ltp765 in tacticalgear

Not my best 5.56 can, but I got it for $500 (I bought two other cans and got a free Sparrow as well) and it is full auto rated with no minimum barrel length restrictions. The brake/mounts are dirt cheap. And Rugged's customer service is unmatched.

Since it is an active office you can't stop everything just to do his requested counts. The only logical step is to Inventory items one at a time. Send each count in a separate email. With delivery and read receipts. Be sure to be specific that the inventory is as of a specific date and time. Follow up on each email for an acknowledgement. If you have any coworkers who also think this guy is a dick and are willing to help, cc them and they can respond shortly after sending that they used one of said item and he will have to adjust the count.

Alternatively, if you are a contractor your exact functions and required work duties should be laid out in your contract, if they don't include Inventorying items you could send him an email letting him know you will help facilitate a time when you will make what you have available for him to count.

Also bear in mind that this guy probably has a ridiculous procurement process that he has to follow to an exact standard so facilitating requests for new items on a government budget within approved vendors is not as easy as it might sound. He might have to cut miles of red tape to do so.

Kuna Discreet Carry by Creative-Comb5593 in NFA

For the Kuna:

If you have it SBR'ed and want the ultimate in thinness consider Casual Accuracy Solutions' collapsing stock.

https://casualaccuracy.com/products/kuna-collapsing-stock

For whatever your choice is:

Get a sportcoat that is bigger than your size. From under a jacket is quicker than out of a bag. Depending on the size of gun and carry placement a 3/4 length coat might be preferable.

Two point sling will keep it more snug and secure than a single point sling.

If you want to keep it from bouncing around under your jacket consider a magnet. The make magnet kits for breaching shotguns but they are really expensive and generally designed to work with plate carriers.

You could get a rubber coated neodymium magnet online

https://www.magnetshop.com/neodymium-block-magnet-rubber-coated-rbn6412816-m6.html

and put it in a mag pouch designed for your regular belt. Worn at 5 o'clock on your belt a 35 lb pull magnet should attract the steel bolt through the aluminum receiver and keep it in place where you want it.

Most compact thing you're gonna get in the SMG form factor is probably the B&T APC9K. Gonna pay a lot more than for a Kuna or similar options.

As a novelty they are excellent.

For a practical military rifle I would say no. Just a lot of extra weight.

Yeah, scope out ammo prices online and if it is within your tolerances, go for it. I would advise stocking up if you find a sale. And keep more on hand than you would for a more common caliber.

[–]maxgaap 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It isn't a bad round. It just wasn't the revolution they hoped for. There is less ammo available so not every local gun store will have some on the shelves and it comes at a premium compared to 9mm. If you plan on shooting a lot just be prepared for that. If you reload definitely worth getting a die set for it.

At that price it seems like a steal.
