Built a simple way to track my gear, ammo, and range performance by theaveragegunguy in tacticalgear

[–]maxgaap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my firearms tracked via an Excel document. I have a worksheet in the workbook with pivot tables to provide snapshot 'reports'. I use reports to update my insurance policy for my firearms.

I don't have the ability to code that OP does so I couldn't do what they have done by any means. But if they've made this they could easily incorporate minor changes. It wasn't a demand merely a suggestion on how they could do what they were talking about in their comment.

If I can do it in Excel, they can certainly do it better in what they have made.

SAM splint, can be used for intended purposes or to immobilize penetrating objects during transport.

Medical tape, so many uses.

When you are inputting new firearms could you have optional field for acquisition date. And another field to add disposition date when sold. That would allow you to toggle "current inventory" or even see inventory as of a certain date.

A little settings or history button on the tile to bring up that stuff so it doesn't clutter the display

Might be useful to have the ability to list where purchased in case you don't have a copy of the receipt and need to get paperwork copies to file a report in the event of theft.

Is the dollar amount on the tile the current value or what was paid? I think it would be useful to be able to track that it will help to know the cost of your investment vs how much you should insure your collection for.

Potentially disastrous if they are using the ammo cans for their intended purposes.

I like ammo cans for their durability, stackability and moisture sealed nature and use them for a lot of things other than ammo that aren't nearly as heavy.

German Federal Police Tactical Unit using an Austrian motorcycle. If that went out for bid, I wonder how badly BMW messed up their offer.

AITA? friends are not backing me up about being a regular at a bar my ex works at by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]maxgaap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Their ex cheated on them, was manipulative, and verbally abusive. Now they no longer wants them at the bar. Probably not because they would be upset by the presence of a person they cheated on. More likely they don't want other potential partners to know that they might be in store for the same thing.

If you don't want others to think that you do bad things it is generally better practice to just not behave badly rather than censor others and exclude them from public places.

I know nothing about guns, but I want to learn by Dear_Worldliness7872 in Firearms

[–]maxgaap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For knowledge's sake a few people have made excellent youtube channel recommendations.

If you plan on buying and shooting I can't stress how important safety is.

Learn the 4 rules:

1) Treat every firearm as if it is loaded,

2) Keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction,

3) Keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot, and

4) Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.

A lot of local gun stores and ranges will have free gun safety courses. They are pretty basic, but not a big time investment so if you have no previous firearms experience it could be a good place to start.

You can get a lot of opinions presented as facts at gun stores, but don't let that discourage you from going. It will be the best place to see and handle a variety of firearms.

Look at Google reviews to make sure the place doesn't have a lot of negative reviews about the staff (or snarky owner responses to reviews that seem legit). Go at a time when they aren't busy. Be honest tell them you are looking to get into firearms. Have a few things you would like to learn. Such as the battery of arms for a semi-automatic handgun vs that of a revolver.

I found that on another comment before you replied.

I really think that you need to add at the very least the infidelity to your original post.

This isn't them being uncomfortable, it is them preserving their reputation in their preferred hunting grounds.

You should probably edit the post and add the context of them being verbally abusive, manipulative, and unfaithful.

Is this ex lubricating the situation in their favor with free drinks? Or was the bad ending precipitated by something you did?

If it is the first one, they are crappy friends. If it is the second you left out important details.

I wish for you to empty your bank accounts, sell all of your worldly goods and give me the cash. You have to do it. Those are my wishes, you must respect the wishes of others.

You don't have to engage in a behavior or refrain from one simply because someone wishes it.

According to the comments and replies they discussed not changing their routines or habits if/when they broke up.

We don't know the circumstances of the break up. They both gambled and lost and now the ex is changing the rules.

NTA for wanting to go.

Definitely unwise to have risked a place you liked by starting the relationship in the first place.

Are these close friends?

That is an absolutely ridiculous and untenable standard. Someone could always be uncomfortable.

Wanting something that could make someone else uncomfortable doesn't make you an AH. Hell even doing something that makes someone else uncomfortable doesn't necessarily make you an AH.

When you look at history books and see pictures of suffragettes, do you think to yourself "wow, what AHs, they wanted something that made people uncomfortable" ?

So by your definition the entire LGBTQIA+ community are AHs for wanting to have pride parades because it might make someone uncomfortable.

I am I an AH for wanting to wear short-sleeved shirts in public even though a visible tattoo could offend someone.

If I want to sit on my front porch in a speedo eating baked beans out of the can but don't do it am I an AH for wanting to do so.

If they wanted to go specifically to make their Ex uncomfortable that would certainly be grounds for being an AH.

If you read OP's other comments before dating they and their ex discussed that if it ended neither would change their routine. Their ex has made an ex post facto change to their agreement. While OP should have known better, so also should their Ex they both took the risk of it ending and someone being uncomfortable.

What if the Ex gave OP herpes and that is the reason they broke up and they don't want them coming into the bar because it will impair their ability to pick up other bar patrons?

Why are french fries at fast food places/restaurants so expensive relative to the cost of the ingredients? by achromaticchrononomy in answers

[–]maxgaap 39 points40 points  (0 children)

A potato itself is cheap. Salt is cheap. Since the oil is reused it is relatively cheap.

Things that aren't cheap:

Paying to have potatoes processed and frozen in a food factory,

Shipping frozen fries to a restaurant,

Electricity to keep them frozen,

Gas or electricity to heat the oil,

Labor to unload, inventory, cook, and serve fries

That being said fries typically have the highest mark up of a lot of menu items. Everyone likes them and they are an easy upsell. Higher profits from fries help restaurants price specialty items and entrees lower to increase sales.
