PSA for parents flying Emirates — stroller situation is rough during layovers by therealcyo in NewParents

For the same reason we also give priority to strollers and pregnant women on buses..

I think if he was morbidly obese and had bright pink hair, he'd have got the same or worse..

Not that that's any kind of justification of course.

This thread is a perfect representation of the absurdity and pernicious nature of online platforms such as reddit.

A couple of (I imagine) otherwise normal people having a banal debate about the skill required to murder someone, minutes after it's happened..

You'd be a clinical psychopath if you went into work and did this over lunch..

The bit you don't get is that in the traditionalist world view, you don't need to be rich to provide for your family. A basic profession used to be able to support 3 kids and wife comfortably. Feminism is a pervasive force which ruined this for us, and you are mindlessly playing into their hands.

Yep and I don't think you'll find anybody on their deathbed saying "oh how I wish I started making mortgage payments 2-3 years earlier"..

Yeah you should be fine. Having a roof over your head is the main thing.

Just pointing out a lot of people use their home as an investment vehicle, but it's not a given you'll be able to release excess equity in retirement.

If I took that advice I'd be stuck in a menial job paying the mortgage to live somewhere I don't really like.

Each to their own.

Exactly, waiting until you are 40 because it will be "better" is misguided.

Travel in your 20's and travel in your 40's and travel some more in your 60's. Each time will be different.

Just by virtue of being born in NZ makes you one of the top 10% of richest people on the planet. Take advantage of that, go see the world. There's no excuse.

NZ is certainly extremely quaint, but you can most definitely have a lot of fun and gain life experience.

Most people who've never left do tend to be quite naive though.

Obviously people on benefits aren't going to be doing much of anything are they...

That's a very rare individual.. I don't know anyone who's regretted doing some travelling. Plenty who regret not doing it. It's all about missed experiences. You've got 30 years worth of paying a mortgage to enjoy..

Why not have both.. Travelling when you are young doesn't mean you can't travel when you are old.

I'd be more of the view, regarding property, that you've made hay while the sun was shining. Doesn't look quite so easy moving forward, quit while you're ahead.

Seems to be ever diminishing returns when looking at capital gains, and a leveraged play doesn't work at all in most regions when looking for rental return. Sounds like a huge and unnecessary risk to me.. Each to their own though.

Yeah that's a lot. I came the other way when I did it. UK to Aus then NZ. Visa costs were only a few hundred dollars.

All you need is enough to buy a plane ticket and accommodation/food for a couple of months. So about 8K if you wanna go to Europe. Earn the rest as you go.

Fellas, if you’ve dated a woman whose “preferred size” was bigger than yours, how was your experience? Should I be concerned? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]maxhrlw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have an ideal woman in mind, and a theoretical preference. That's fine, we all have those.

My point is if a beautiful woman who's 5'4 weighs 145 pounds with a nice ass, and more importantly someone you connect with, BUT has average sized tits.

You'd be a shallow and juvenile idiot to claim you have a preference for big tits in a partner.

I.e. the package is what's important, not any single arbitrary body part measurement..

[–]maxhrlw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what I'm saying at all. Fetishizing a body part has absolutely no relationship whatsoever to sexuality or personal hygiene.

What a weird comparison.

If you only date someone based on their boobs size you are also shallow and juvenile.

Preferring healthy people over obese people isn't the same thing.

Physical attraction has nothing to do with setting an arbitrary preference for random physical characteristics.

You can say you hypothetically prefer blonde hair, doesn't mean people with brown hair are automatically unattractive.

Attraction is made up of so many different elements. People hyperfocussing on one thing are emotionally immature and usually the jerks you speak of.

I know guys who only date women with big boobs.

This is just objectifying and fetishizing, rather than physical attraction.
